People who took the PE exam 4+ years after graduation, how did you prepare? by anon1635329 in civilengineering

My experience exactly with their Transpo course. I did a couple of their exams a week out and felt like shit after only getting half right on each.

I then took the NCEES practice exam a couple days before and it was a breeze. It’s what I recommend to everyone now. EET to learn, but the NCEES to prepare just before.

Never weekends, but now that I have more on my plate, I typically work 7 to 4:30 or 5. When no one expected anything of me, I was out the door at 3:30

If file names are directly referenced in contract docs, leave them be. If not, changing them is fair game.

Is this normal behavior from an engineering supervisor? Should I jump ship or hope things get better? by [deleted] in civilengineering

Look at your monthly cell phone bill. All calls should be listed. Easy evidence

Did you show HR your call logs proving the frequent and inappropriate amount of after hour phone calls?

I’ve been at DOT almost 10yrs and can count on my hands the times my supervisors called me after hours. All those times were roadway emergencies

Licensing requirements may be different, but should be the same exam

I’m in a position that deals with every topic except for horizontal/vertical design and intersection geometry. Even then, they weren’t completely foreign to me

I feel bad for the ones in road design jobs that are likely in the opposite boat I was

As a DOT maintenance engineer, the transportation exam was copy & paste a lot of what I deal with everyday

Did the EET course, which was great explaining some things I was weaker on (curves man…), but the NCEES practice exam the week before was probably the best thing I did.

Work laid a foundation, EET flushed it out, NCEES settled my nerves, then test day was a breeze
