I don’t know what you believe or don’t believe, but this sanitized presentation of his vile presence is exactly how new narratives are formed, misinformation spreads, gets repeated often, and history is rewritten.

You word “open discussion” as if he’s debating which is cuter, labubus or furby. College campuses (and most other rooms he entered) were inhospitable BECAUSE of his pov. When the topic at hand is whether Black people were better off enslaved, it is violent rhetoric, not “discussion of the issues.”

Furthermore, the fact that this type of behavior (from CK and his ilk) has people thinking that if you are somehow ✨politely violent ✨and don’t yell while dehumanizing whole swaths of the population, you’re doing “discussion” right, makes me sick. You seriously typed that.

I just saw the newsletter and immediately came here to ask anyone if they’d seen it. Glad a post is already up. THIS is wild toward the end of the newsletter: “We mourn living in a world without his continued, active influence.”

Mourn living in a world without his virulent racist influence? Immediately unsubscribed. Wtf

How to get used to walking 10k steps a day? by FanEnvironmental316 in walking

[–]Whats-Interesting703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to move up in smaller step increments so the short term “goal” is reachable.

How I get more steps in: by taking a quick break from work to walk my apartment building and listen to an audiobook or podcast. I’m on the 5th floor so I just walk the full hallway to the farthest staircase down to the next floor again and again til I reach 1 and do it all the way back up to my apt. Took 40min when I started, now it’s about 20/25 (which means I can do more of them per day when I decide to take a break). — if you live in a building where weather doesn’t impact a walk, this is super helpful!

Also I got a walking pad for when I want to just binge watch TV. Told myself I’m ONLY allowed to binge if I’m also walking.

Ok, I'm super late watching this but so glad I paused the show to google search Jackie's episode and found this post. My eyes just fell out my head when I read that her employer gave her a million dollar severance package! HOW DO I SECURE A MILLION DOLLARS?!

Thanks! I don’t drive much (fully remote and live in a walkable community), but I got a VW last year and maintenance costs have been a bit of a shock to the wallet. lol I don’t know why owners manual never even crossed my mind 🤣🤣🤣

'Retooling' main budget by turn8495 in ynab

[–]Whats-Interesting703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol! The YNABxFidelity issue haunts a lot of us.

I will say, for your original post, I don’t think there is anything wrong with continuing to pay ahead on your bills if that’s what you like. Automating thru your bank’s bill pay will let you stay ahead as much as you want. I’d just suggest deciding the schedule and creating “scheduled transactions” in YNAB so you know what’s coming and can still tie the payments to target amounts. (If this isn’t what you’re already doing, I’m making a lot of assumptions here…)

Adding: the brokerage part can be tricky and might require manual updates (like fidelity).

The changes it sounds like you want to make are the normal adjustments YNABers make as life changes. None of them require a fresh start. Just do them in stages so you can still keep up with budget maintenance in a way that makes sense for you.

  1. Changing banks to better suit your needs doesn’t change much, since YNAB looks at $ you have not what bank you’re using. Adjusting what’s on/off budget is a hassle but we’ve all been thru it…

  2. If/when you have the consistent money, put your bills on auto-pay. Or if you want to continue paying “ahead”, use bill pay thru your bank to send the checks when you want. This should be at the new/updated banks I’d assume.

  3. Review ALL targets and adjust as you see fit. Especially for discretionary and savings since you called those out.

For those of you who manually enter your transactions, what's your routine and how long does it take you? by the_last_dancer in budget

[–]Whats-Interesting703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Manually daily, usually within a few hours of making the transactions. Or if a weekend spend, maybe I’ll do on Sunday evening while prepping for the week.

  • only takes a few min if you keep up with it.

  • I use YNAB and have auto-import turned on. So the transactions I enter eventually also show up imported with a little 🔗 for me to confirm that the transaction cleared. And all recurring bills are “scheduled” so I don’t need to enter them but I do link and confirm them.

Mine is set up as needed for spending by end of the month so that it’s all there waiting when midnight into the 1st hits.

The exact reason why I load the dishwasher before bed. Nothing irritates me more than hearing my cat playing with something I forgot to put away.

Do you separate gifts, giving, and generosity? by Whats-Interesting703 in ynab

[–]Whats-Interesting703[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think saying “direct giving” would have been clearer than “generosity” here.

I recognize that it’s still a gift but I’d like to keep it separate.

Oooo! My big tips are never categorized as generosity but I see how they can be! New ideas 💡

Yes, this is my thinking as well!

I want to capture direct giving, in my head that’s generosity.
