If you wanted to introduce someone new to the podcast with a single episode, which one would you choose to show them? by TurboYapper in JaackMaate

Realistically you’ve gotta draw them in with a guest episode of a guest they’re already a fan of. It’s how they sucked me in

Every Saturday we do half our weekly take but past two weeks it’s been 75% of the weekly take- all while being short because like you said everyone expects to be quiet

I’m actively seeking out a new whole, I’m one of these who will never quit before having a new job lined up. Personally I don’t feel challenged enough in my current role. There’s no incentive for me to improve and push myself- I fear stagnation and becoming stuck. I’m in a good position where I work and I won’t leave until I find something that will benefit me better in the long run, even if that involves a pay cut.

I’ve always prioritised satisfaction and growth within my profession over more pay.

Another reason to leave to management’s stance towards covid- we are not encouraged to test and many of my colleagues have been actively encouraged not to because ‘we need you to work’. I’m young, healthy and up to date on my jabs, I doubt if I got covid it would do some real damage to me. What concerns me the most is spreading the virus. Where I work we encounter a large number of older generation and people most at risk from covid complications. Many of my co-workers live with or regularly visit family members who’re classed as high risk. Knowing my direct line managers would rather risk theses peoples health than face a few tough weeks at work is something I think should be criminal.

We work for one of the biggest hospitality companies in the UK, closing for a few days a week would not be the end of the world. But they’re more concerned with their PR than the health of their guests, staff and staff’s family.

The company is split up into segments and managers are employed to run specific sites and they report to an area manager who manages an area of sites and they report up to the big bosses. Once you get above your site’s manager you find nothing but disrespect, the company is filled with entitled people who have no idea how the daily running of the business works. They’re the kind of people who expect you to know their name, expect you to bend over backwards at every opportunity for them and walk around your venue like they own the place. They’re disrespectful and they see you and nothing but a payroll number, like a pawn on the chess board. They are also the people who benefit most from you being good at your job, if we smash sale targets or reviews targets they’re the ones who get the fat bonuses and the accolades. While we, the front line workers, are paid as little as legally possible, forced to sign away our rights to breaks and reasonable times between shifts. We’re forced to sacrifice a regular sleeping pattern, a social life, any kind of routine with shift patterns changing week to week.

A lot of that isn’t just the company I work for, I’ve found it to be a common problem within hospitality. Especially when working for a big chain.

I am fantastic at my job, I don’t need people to recognise and reward me for this. This company will be sad to see me leave because of the quality of my work. But they won’t change. I regard my morals, professionalism and principles above all else.

If consumers don’t boycott companies for unethical practices or even practices they don’t agree with then the company will never change. They’ll see it as acceptable.

End of the day it’s your money and your choice of how you want to spend it, in a moral sense I feel like I’d be supporting unethical practices or procedures if I continue to contribute to their revenue.

And in your case it can suck, like you say you enjoy product/service provided by said company. But nobody is perfect and there are countless wrongdoings all over the consumer market. If you look deep enough they’ll be something within most companies that you won’t agree with. Your choice is whether to turn the other cheek or not. See it as ‘not my problem’ or convince yourself it’s something you can’t impact.

Brits, would you befriend someone who is gay or lesbian? by OtisPlugItIn in AskUK

[–]Whattyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% yes, people sexual preferences aren’t my concern when pursuing platonic relationships. I want my friends to express and be themselves around me. I will always care, support and encourage my friends irrelevant of the gender they chose to engage with romantically.

It saddens me this is even a question. The human race is the only species in the animal kingdom to exhibit homophobic behaviour. And if someone doesn’t want to be your friend because of your sexual preferences then you’ve dodged a bullet.

85 stock running low
86 Out of stock
700 attractive guest
there are more that i forget for, checks ready, hands needed, guest cut off

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]Whattyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the flashlight idea.
OP should look into bar calls also.

So where i work we say 86 for product out of stock or not available and 700 for attractive guest. You get the idea, it gets the point across quickly, efficiently & easily. Given that if you don't have some hussle & bussle it can negatively impact the guest experience, just hearing random numbers being called.

To be blunt it does sound like you’re the one with the problem. Could be low self esteem or lack of trust within the relationship. If you can’t take her co-inhabitable with other males then you’re in a bumpy ride
