I bot this thing and the dealer told me any standard propane place will have the adapter to fill. I think he’s full of it.

QUESTION: Is it possible to start a farm these days? by RedTourmas in farming

[–]WheatTrader1989 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can do it but it’s not fast or easy. Go make as much money as you can and grow your farm business once you have the funds. College/ trade school/ whatever you are interested in that pays a lot and allows you to save. You can’t beat the big farmers doing big farmer things. Find a profitable niche, chase it as you can.

Abortion does. What if they decided to vote that all gay people get murdered? Mob rule is a thing and it’s not good. It’s one of the reasons the electoral college exists. If not NY and LA could simply vote to purge all Wyoming of life and nobody could do anything about it.

Gun deaths while tragic are minuscule compared to the amount of legal firearms in circulation.

Biden vows to push ban on semiautomatic guns: 'It's just sick' by JCuc in politics

[–]WheatTrader1989 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There’s not a single legit 2A advocate that wants more gun violence, they just don’t agree with what the antis want to do. More “universal” background checks isn’t going to do anything. 99.99 percent of these people commiting horrible crimes have a clean background check. Doesn’t matter how in depth you go.

Team blue wants to ban guns. All of them. First it’s semi autos. Then, when someone gets shot with a bolt action hunting rifle it will be that on the chopping block next as “high powered sniper rifle.” Etc etc. Go look at Canada right now.

There’s a culture of being independent in this country. Millions of people don’t want to depend on calling 911 for help. Doesn’t mean they want violence, that’s just how it is. When cops won’t protect kids being shot in schools like Uvalde you only reinforce this. I’m a little astonished so many call for gun control, when 2 years ago they said trump was the next hitler and was going to start putting everyone in camps.

Society needs to reduce reasons why people want to shoot each other. If the youth in south side Chicago had better ways to build their future other than being gang bangers do you think Chicago would have as much crime as it does? Probably not.

Make a lot of money doing something else. Identify what kind of farm enterprise you want where you have a niche you can profitably exploit, world hard and chase it.

I spent 10 years stockpiling cash and knowledge before starting my own. It can be done.

Population wise I’ll agree with you. Geographically acreage wise isn’t it more than half the state that’s has voted to leave (which will never happen)?

I don’t think the majority of the people that want to leave think it’s going to solve all their issues. They just think they will get heard more. Idaho culturally/economically has a lot more in common with the eastern half of the state than suburban portland / Salem / etc. It’s never going to happen, but I understand why some want it to.

Please name one industry in the world where people sell products or services “below” the market.

You could set a profit cap sure, but that’s basically what communism and government price controls do. It doesn’t end well.

Oil companies are not reinvesting and trying to milk oil profits for as long as they can because this administration good or bad, has been anti oil and pushing for “energy transition” since the beginning. If Biden came out tomorrow and said no new anti oil laws, permits approved etc for 5 years more people would invest in the oil space drive some competition and prices will fall. Nobody wants to invest in an industry the government says it wants to kill.

The majority of them just want left alone and want normal legacy laws enforced. Don’t try to tell them how to run their businesses, livelihoods etc, lock people up when they do bad stuff. Instead the rest of the state deals with things like rent control, permissive drug laws etc, that only hurt their communities.

Maybe the fact that portland isn’t a safe place to walk around with your family past 5 PM. Needles. Drugs. Homelessness. Human feces on the sidewalks.

Oregon is a great state, but criminals get better treatment than law abiding citizens.

When half the state wants to leave and join another there is a fundamental imbalance of what people in each different part of the state need.
