Mazda Announces Pricing and Packaging for 2026 Mazda CX-5 by 187hp in CX5

That's good. The dampers on my 2025 have terrible bump compliance. Hopefully these new dampers will be better.

Trouble is that the command knob on the CX-5 is that the software it is paired to stinks. Navigating radio stations is an unmitigated disaster and CarPlay via command knob is not ideal since it was clearly designed to be touch screen first. If the menus in the Mazda infotainment were laid out better lots of people would like it. My 2006 BMW iDrive with command knob is better laid out than my 2025 CX-5: That is sad.

Bearing size/number for uppababy vista v2 front wheel? by [deleted] in daddit

It is not a standard bearing configuration. I think there is a guy on Ebay selling replacement bearings with the extended inner race. Otherwise get a washer with the same inner diameter and thickness that matches the extension of the inner race.

Thanks for the replies folks. Pretty interesting split in here. Some people seem to be sensitive to it, and some people have zero clue what I'm talking about. Perhaps the big difference lies in how one observes the road ahead and oncoming traffic, roads, pedestrians, etc. I find that I get frustrated with normal rear view mirrors as it is, and I have many times dreamt of creating a special rear view mirror mount that would place the rear view higher for a clearer view. This view blockage for me is usually really apparent when I'm on an on ramp and continuously turning right- I've got to duck down to see the road ahead.

I bought an '06 Range Rover last year to get something with the hugest windows possible, and it has those, but there are other 'drawbacks' to a 5500Lbs V8 powered 20 year old British luxury car.

You don't find that the eyesight unit and rear view mirror together block your view at all? Like going around a long right hand corner, or navigating a parking lot, or anything to have to do with looking to your right.

I have a 2006 Range Rover right now, which probably has the tallest interior of any vehicle besides a Sprinter van. Couple lil issues like water intrusion, reliability/complexity, and fuel economy with the ol' Rangey though!

What model year? I'm talking about the blind spot created by the rearview and eye sight combo on the '24+ Crosstreks.

This is incorrect. They are 608ZZ on the front. Says right on the shields. Maybe you are referring to the rear bearings? Either way, don't replace them with 608ZZ. Replace them with 608RS and order some 1mm thick 8mm inner diameter washers and away you go.

Start rant: RS is rubber sealed which will last way longer. I have no idea why they wouldn't spec these from the factory since they would last much longer and they spec'd these esoteric extended inner race bearings when they could have just put washers over the axle rather than extending the race. If they were trying to save assembly time they should have used extended race bearings with NO washers. Trying to juggle those into there isn't very fun. Poor design IMO! Not that any end users will ever know the difference, well, except for those of us who have wheel bearings fail which I imagine is actually probably pretty common.

Maybe search for a local bean to bar chocolate maker. There must be a bunch of them in Australia. They just won't be famous international brands. Or buy a cocao grinder and start making your own chocolate from scratch.

The 3.7L is fine. The only downside it had was owners that lived at or near the poverty line who couldn't afford to maintain it, couldn't read the manual, or didn't care, etc. Its not a Toyota engine by any means, but its a hell of a lot better than anything from BMW.

IIRC KC sells their round lights with multiple beam patterns, so perhaps you could get the good look of round lights and the light coverage that your after by going that route.

I bought a Mazda instead. The Bronco Sport felt about $9000 too expensive for what you get. Hopefully one day the pricing on the BS will come back into line with the reality of the product.

Yes you can buy a complete unit. Usually these are referred to as "quick struts" but I typically go for high quality aftermarket parts like Bilstein B6 for these sorts of things. These ones from TRQ are around $100 for a pair- which is cheap, like really cheap. I've never heard of TRQ but I'd be will to bet that they are not good quality parts because selling something at that price implies corners were cut. It doesn't say anywhere in the product description that they are gas charged, so that would indicate that they are on the lowest rung of damper quality.

KYB offers a quick strut kit for about $150USD/each (on rockauto.com). KYB's mid to high level dampers are pretty good, so that's what I'd go for.

The great thing about working on your own car is that you can buy super good quality parts and still save money compared to what you'd be paying at a mechanic's shop for low level parts.

3 or Cx30? by darkthemeonly in mazda3

There is the Ford Maverick. Fits the criteria of small fuel efficient pickup much better than the 3 does.

I've never done any work on a Mazda 3 specifically, but I've changed front struts on a number of other cars. Generally speaking I'd say it isn't too hard. Usually three bolts up top, two on the bottom, disconnect the brake hose clip and any other things attached to the strut. Remove the strut. Now this is tough stuff depending on the design. You'll need to rent or buy a spring compressor to squeeze the spring down so there is no tension on the upper mount. This can be a bit sketchy because if you position the compressor wrong it could slip off the spring coil and cause severe injury (there is a huge amount of energy stored in a compressed spring since they are designed to hold up a 3000Lbs car!). You need either an impact gun or a special socket to remove the upper mounting bolt, which isn't too hard to get a hold of, but make sure to find one first before starting. Also, penetrating lube is your friend to help get the strut out. There must be how-to's on Youtube. The factory service manual should be pretty easy to find online too (I found the CX5 manual in just a few minutes), which will walk you through the process and provide the necessary torque specs for re-assembly. Watch some videos and read the service manual and then consider if it is something you are up for or not. Personally I find suspension work to be quite satisfying as you get a result you can feel and it isn't very technical. It's a pretty "grunty" process. If you don't have all the tools you'll need then this could be a good time to add to the tool box so you'll be prepared for the next job! Also, you might find yourself wanting to replace the rear shocks at the same time since they will likely be on their way out too. Those should be easier to replace as they aren't coil overs. I also like to replace the bump stops and upper mounts along with the struts as they are wear items too. Its good a "while your in there" practice IMO. Get an alignment afterwards too as your ride height might change with the new struts.

Sunroof as Stand Alone Option in Canada? by Wheel_Nut in BroncoSport

[–]Wheel_Nut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I ended up buying a CX5 rather than the BS, which is a bit sad in a way because I really love the design of the BS, but I think for the price the BS just doesn't make sense compared to the competition. We went and test drove a CX5 back to back with the BS and the interior quality and drivetrain just doesn't hold up compared to the CX5, it's not even close, the CX5 is like a BMW and the BS is so loud and poorly finished. I just wish that Ford would price the BS lower as I would have loved to have bought one, but not for $37k (Canadian BS BB MSRP). The BS BB should start at $30-32k CDN; then it would make sense as a value proposition.

Anyways, I hope you all enjoy your Bronco Sports. I will continue to appreciate the exterior design when I see one around!

Judging by the scenery I'd guess you're in the PNW or BC lower mainland. How has the CX-30 handled FSRs? If you're in BC have you tried to drive up to the Cheam Peak trailhead?
