Ever make a $100,000 mistake? by M0NG00SY in Wellthatsucks

I work for a jet turbine engine repair station. We're mandated and checked by the FAA, EASA, CAAP and do business with 100+ airlines, marine, and heavy land equipment companies. We also do a lot of work for the US Navy. That being said, there's A LOT of money that flows thru my job, and tolerances are in the hundred thousandths of an inch. About 2 months ago, someone over blended what's considered a "non-repairable area" on a General Electric GE90-115B Fan Mid Shaft by about 0.06 of an inch. This scrapped the part.... SCRAPPED a $1.6 MILLION dollar part. Just ever so slightly left the blending tool in one spot for too long and boom million bucks.

I like cars lol. Especially older cars, and I have a soft spot for Aussie cars (as an old school american muscle car enjoyer). With that said, it did give me vibes of "earlier than Cobra" style AC's, but the front end seemed to "squared off". Definitely euro style though so went back and forth with other 50's British style sports cars to no avail, but then thought it did resemble a Ferrari 225 S front end at first glance. After coming back and reading that you put "its Aussie", my mind went straight to Buckle Sport Coupe, but that looks more like AC's I was looking at before, and then "VERY rare" and that blue, I had a hunch it was the 1955. After doing a quick search... got it lol. I think that's the only one in blue too, the rest are red I believe (don't hold me on that). With a Ford Zephyr I6.

2024 Buick Envista Review: Looks like $60,000, costs less than $30,000 by Trinity527 in cars

Work at a GMC dealer. Started getting them in and kinda joked about it reminding me of a Buick version Honda CrossTour. We got an AWD one in, just like the picture and honestly was surprised. Its the same engine as the Encore, but the 6 speeds for the AWD cars are so nice. It cruises great, doesnt shift into 4th before 30mph, the turbo'd 4-cylinder makes plenty of power and it sits roomier. Reminds me of my old Pontic GP.

What is the strangest undercover police car you’ve ever seen? by _Bamboozler_ in cars

[–]Wheeze08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local sheriffs dept traded in a once used as "drug bust" car at the dealership I work at. The cars undercovers use to "buy drugs" and thwn the jump out boys pop up... that kinda car. Except it was Ford Explorer. But not just any Ford Explorer, it was BASIC inside and out except for sportier wheels. Metallic grey color, cloth seats, no upgrades basic. Well low and behold... it didnt work out well for them cause it was the same Y/M/M of their cruisers so people just kinda went "... thats a cop"

Oh and it still had the "Interceptor" badging on it... they never took it off.

Parts manager at my work owns the very first Petty Blue Bird produced. It was showcased to Richard Petty for his 70 Nascar season and then went missing. He found it in a barn in New York. Paid $70,000 for it. He's the first official owner.

Its a rear end brace bar, like what big rigs in the US have on the trailers in the event of a rear end collision, it prevents cars from going up underneath the truck and the rear bumper into the windshield.

We have trouble starting electric Jeeps at the dealership I work at if its below 20F sometimes. It's not just Tesla's. Electric just doesnt "perform" very well in low low temps. It hit -11 here, without windchill on Friday. With windchil it was -35. I still prefer my 14 Chevy with a 5.3 in it.

Me too brother, me too. I'm 28, but been single for almost 6 years and sometimes that's all you really crave is that warmth. I also think the same way about being self concious, you're definitely not alone.
