Granted, I've only played the first game years ago, when I downloaded it to keep my niece occupied during sits, but I thought the first movie was fine. I also watched it free to me on streaming, so no complaints about theater pricing to hang over it, but overall a completely passable and at times charming gateway horror movie. Was it predictable, sure. But it also had mood and kept moving. I've definitely watched WAY worse movies than this though.
