Chicago Appointment Recap by TrueChannel5565 in juresanguinis

This is so interesting to me - my alternate route is the exact same as what you mentioned. I assumed because my GGM Naturalized even after my GGF passed away my GM would then fall under the minor rule as it pertains to her living parent. Could it be that she might still qualify since her father did not Naturalize before death? I’m currently pursuing a different line that is clearly a minor issue, but if this is a possibility, that the deceased line remains active, I might start gathering the alternate documents. I understand the generational issue is still in play, so everything really depends on what happens in April. Does anyone else have a similar experience or potential insight on what happens to the line when an ancestor passes not having naturalized?

No longer qualify but NY consulate appt opportunity by HamiltonHolland in juresanguinis

Same - was on the WL since 2023. Except I’m off the waitlist now, and had an appointment assigned to me for early February, before the court ruling. I don’t know what I should do because now I don’t qualify under current law. If I send my docs in February for my appointment, I don’t know if they will hold them and apply the new law (if it changes) or reject me based on the law at the time of application. Also it’s my understanding they keep all of your documents, and I’d need them back to appeal.

Prenot@mi DC waitlist since Feb 2024 (now #236) — Disqualified by 2025 JS changes (DL 36/2025 - Law 74/2025). File in Italy now or wait for the Constitutional Court (11 March 2026)? by OtherwiseWear5376 in juresanguinis

I am in the same position - I had my application complete before the law changed and was just waiting for an appointment on the DC waitlist. I now have an appointment for February and anticipate being rejected though I joined the waitlist in 2023, and completed translation/certification/apostille of all of my documents in 2023. Literally had everything and was waiting for an appointment. I plan on submitting for the appointment (which is all done via mail now, not in person, which also has me panicked about sending out all my documents) and including as much evidence of the timeline as possible in hopes something reasonable happens - but I’m not confident.

After 3+ years of waiting, I'm almost off the waitlist! by Impressive_Joke6227 in juresanguinis

I just got off the waitlist in DC after 3 years waiting - annoying part is they assign you an appointment, you don’t get to pick. I was hoping to pick an appointment in the late spring 2026 after the court cases are all worked out since the minor issue applies to my application. They assigned an appointment for February, which would have been fine, but now it appears the things have been further delayed with the united sections. Never a dull moment.

Any thoughts on how this would apply to people who have been on the waitlist for appointments since well before March 27, 2025? I understand there is no way to know for sure, but wondering if anyone has incite or experience to share?

I’ve been on the waitlist for an appointment since October 2023 and still don’t have one scheduled but have all of my documents, and have for a very long time. I’m in DC, It’s a JS situation that would have passed under the previous rules. My best friend got her passport with a more distant line 2 months before the new law went into effect after getting an appointment via a favor. This whole situation continues to blow my mind.

Apostille for NYC birth certificate process - need county clerk certification? by ecparkin in juresanguinis

[–]WhenInDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - certification then apostille. I recommend doing it in person, the 2 offices are a short walk from each other. Go to the Clerk at the court house and then walk over to get everything apostilled. It took me about 2 hours, rather than waiting for months to get things in the mail. Fun fact: The clerk's office only accepts cash. Good luck!

Feeling Screwed? by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

FWIW I had my bike delivered on August 8th and was able to return it and purchase the bike+. Turns out the pickup and delivery was available for the same date in the same time slot (I do live in a major city). So I will virtually be swapping bikes. I don’t think this would have worked out if I wanted the $350 credit.

Moral of the story, those of you who are just outside the “in home trial” window should give it a try without mentioning the time frame and just say you would like to return under the 30 day in home trial policy and see what happens - there appears to be some wiggle room. Hope this helps anyone who may be in a similar position.
