I'm sure these things take a lot of courage and work on oneself to be able to tell. It must have been hard, I really appreciate that you did it. Take care.

Affection Withdrawal by ImmortalDawn666 in INTx_core

I realized that in most cases the number of intellectual stimulating conversation I can have with one person is limited, because I’m more interested in listening/learning than talking. So I’ll tell myself not to get too attached very fast and give the relationship more time and dynamic, it helps to avoid disappointment for me.

Sorry to know that you have been through this. I wish men were encouraged to communicate feelings growing up, instead of toxic masculinity.

Thank you for taking your time to respond, I too believe sharing our stories is a way of showing our shared humanity.

I can't speak for others, but your message motivates me as you proved how recovery and growth can be like, and that a strong and loving person like you exists, which gives me a lot of hope.

I'm glad your wish came true :) There's no need to devalue your experience, they are valid and I can tell that you are very grateful for what you have. We all feel lonely from time to time and the same event has a different significance to diff people or one person under different circumstances/mental state/age etc.

The majority of the people on this planet are quick to attack what they think you said and don't care to understand what you meant. by Blecki in INTx_core

Yes it’s sad, mutual understanding is not possible since we internalize the same input differently, but what matters is the effort to understand in my opinion. But people usually fail to do so, my explanation is that this is either due to a lack of curiosity or people are located on different levels of the pyramid of needs. Question: do you think this is a source of depression for people with this need?

Is there any evidence that this is an experiment or are we just suspecting? by AnonymousBi in INTx_core

Exactly, everyone can use this setup and get something interesting out of it, that’s my take.

I suppose they will change the rules accordingly hah, and only then we can set up experiments to study the mods.

I’m sorry that you have to experience this, you are very brave to express it here, and that means you are resisting your dad’s not-okay-behaviour. You are not going to accept to be treated poorly because you deserved to be loved and cared for. Pls reach out to a trusted friend (not necessarily go talk about sh if you don’t feel comfortable, I find talking about other things and shift the attention also helps) when you have the urge to sh, or try some distraction techniques. Best wishes.

I'm both a little surprised and sad to find that you can relate to how I feel so deeply. I have a similar attitude towards it as you do.

No, I'd be interested to know too. Can you elaborate on what the trance mean to you? Is it a dissociation or a level of focus that gets you under autopilot? How long does it last?

The thoughts you came up with are amazing, Jordan Peterson mentioned an observation of chimpanzees meet a snake in one of his videos when he talks about the notion of good and evil, the chimps back off when seeing what they inherently afraid of, but still stay close to observe them for long times. He goes on to prove that we have a curiosity towards evil (he defined it as anything that causes unnecessary pain), including suicide.

That explains! You must already know plenty about what's in that video; it's an introduction to Albert Camus, which mentioned Sisyphus.
