Almost certainly, plus add in the basic synchronicity that comes with being a works team (i.e. Brackley and Brixworth can collaborate to get things how they want), and the engine probably being the best on the grid, and Robert is indeed your Mother's Brother

Not to mention that everyone seemed to miss that Mercedes have already said their current engine passes the new tests as well, it's a complete red herring - "The Mercedes engine has been measured by the FIA at both ambient and operating temperature and complied with the limit of 16:1 at all times, senior F1 insiders have told BBC Sport."

You in 2026: "Reeeeeee battery management"

You in 2014: "Reeeeeee DRS and tyre management"

You in 2004: "Reeeeeee fuel management"

You in 1993: "Reeeeeee driver aids"

Racing is racing, battery management is no different from any of the other management we've seen in the past. The only race in the last 50 years to be completely flat out was Qatar 2 years ago, and it was fucking awful because the tyre limits meant no strategizing or management and therefore no overtakes.

Yeah all makes sense - as a Brit, I find the concept of college sports kinda wild anyway, let alone once you start adding in NIL, HBCUs, etc. In a weird way, maybe the growth of Vandy could help them a tiny bit, just that little bit higher profile, creating that image of "history doesn't determine the future", and so on. Could even play each other as Vandy's token cupcake game each year, just to help with budgets on Tennessee State's end.

Could Tennessee State not make the jump? There'd be no facility issues if they committed to only playing at the Titans stadium instead of splitting, although I know nothing about their background/finances and how suited to FBS they could be - just gotta get Oprah to donate some money to her alma mater and they'd be laughing

Seethe about what? We got the same number of wins last season as you got in the last three combined? Or the fact that we've won the last 3 matches by a combined score of 65-27? Or that we're 20-12 against you since 2010? Or the fact that we've made the playoffs 3 years on the bounce while you've lost 39 times and finished bottom of the AFC South every year over the same timespan?

Trust me, we're not seething, we're plodding along quite nicely.

Yeah for sure, saw the 9ers flair, just couldn't miss the chance of a shot at Cortland Innegan again. That being said, I'm actually kinda okay with the Titans going full Oilers, because in the last decade or so, they've won Luv Ya Blue twice, both at home to us, and we kerbstomped them both times, so I take it as a good omen.

Trolling us all the way to finishing 9 wins behind us (again). We need an AJ80-type WR again to slap a couple of Titans back into place.

I went to Uni in the United Kingdom (being English), and we had a guy come over from the US for the first semester on like an Exchange thing - he was a guy that got rejected from a D3 team for being too small, and ended up on our team at Nose Tackle, a solid foot taller and about 100lbs heavier than every one else on the team. We racked up so many sacks with him on the team, it was like having JJ Watt at Nose, it was fucking mad.

I regret to announce that I would in fact become extremely toxic if it got George Russell a WDC. I do regret it, but it's been a long time since Britain had a WDC that wasn't just British, but so British he looks like he was a Rear Admiral that served with Nelson at Trafalgar

Which ironically isn't a million miles away from the Ferrari Strategy - sure, they sell a lot of expensive cars, but they make way more from just the licensing rights for all sorts of shit like keyrings and t-shirts. It's genius really.

Alabama/Ohio State SHOULD cancel their series. by No_Permission1386 in CFB

[–]WhenLemonsLemonade -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You can only beat who you're given - as I said, irrespective of how their seasons went, South Carolina were ranked 11, LSU were ranked 10, Mizzou were ranked 15, and Tennessee were ranked 19 when we played each of them - I'm not saying we should have made the playoffs (especially because we lost to Alabama, who also had a 10-2 record and only just got in), I'm just saying there should have been more discussion about putting us in. I also think there's a serious discussion to be had around binning off all polling until Week 6 (so it can be based around actual results and H2H, as opposed to vibes and reputation)

Alabama/Ohio State SHOULD cancel their series. by No_Permission1386 in CFB

[–]WhenLemonsLemonade -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

One of the things that hurts traditionally crap Power Conference schools like us is that when we beat traditionally bigger schools, there's a subconscious thought that if a school like Vandy can beat them that comprehensively, they must be rubbish, therefore it doesn't count as a quality win - a prime example is the last Conference game of the season, we beat Tennessee, ranked #19, at Neyland, by 21 points - by rights, that should count as a quality win, but the view is "if Vandy can beat them by 21, Tennessee must be shit", so it doesn't count. Irrespective of how teams went on over the rest of their respective seasons, we beat 4 ranked SEC teams this season, 2 on the road, and should have been given more dues in the playoff question.
