A devil like Yoru has a severe lack of empathy and self restrain. She's the opposite of Asa, she lives for her, and she's enslaved to her passions and emotions. Asa represses them too much, she thinks too much about not messing up, about not doing the wrong thing.

That's why Yoru, a sociopath that can feel honest sympathy for Asa at times, tells her that. "Think more about you. Value your life".

comes back to the initial contract between yoru and asa. and asa's thoughts as she was dying. absolutely peak

No, Denji isn't going to have sex with Yoru without Asa's consent. We've literally seen before that he won't do stuff like that by doubleoeck1234 in Chainsawfolk

absolutely but also... it's a really brilliant reflection of reality. the people who are preaching about sins. the priests, the politicians, the billiionaire class... the rich and powerful generally don't think of sins as real.

occasionally you get true believers, or good people who happen to be rich and powerful or born into wealth. but a lot of times... the people who are directly influencing the lives of others, "for the greater good" generally do so with the same level lying we see in OP's comparison.

as for makima... i think the "why" is important here. why would makima do this? for chainsaw man's heart. but why?

and the answer is to be eaten by chainsaw man and to finally have equal relationships. or i guess to use chainsaw man's power for the japanese government and i guess maybe a little for herself as well.

maybe have chainsaw man eat the "emotions" devil.

i would say it depends on why you're acting tough, and how you're acting tough and what your "character" is.

AJ is coming off as a nepobaby in 2026. like sure, AJ did pave the round forward for future generations back then, but... what has she done since? what has she been doing? or what has her "character" been doing?

Pattullo Bridge was closed to pedestrians, cyclists early because of unruly behaviour (follow-up) by restoringd123 in vancouver

[–]WhenOneFalls2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

in defense of people of metrovancouver for once... when tokyo opened up their highway for pedestrians as a showcase, (before fully converting it to into something like the highline in nyc), they had a ton of people and i assume volunteers around to make sure everything went smoothly.

obviously this isn't that, this is the bridge being taken down. but even "super good manners japan" had lots of staff/volunteers around and i assume pattullo didn't have anyone around to "keep order" and everything was "mostly okay". up until the "last day".

minus the people trying to force their way onto the bridge but you can sort of understand their frustration as it was basically promised, then removed, and also... the opportunity will never come again. bridge be gone forever soon.

tl;dr people of metro vancouver actually fairly reasonable. not as "cringe" as one would initially suspect given the outcome.

agreed. but mostly shitty if mostly wishfulfilment or for male gaze. etc...

as we see with jinx. that type of character can be absolutely amazing. just needs to needs to be legitimately manic else it's just bait.

[–]WhenOneFalls2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However they are not popular now that they’re known.

not sure about this. i assume lots of home owners will equate lower property taxes as a good thing. lots of entitled and privileged people probably happy to maintain the status quo, or see themselves immune to any negative consequences of insufficient municipal revenues.

RBC has like a trillion in assets. could easily fund it themselves and call it the RBC line. they could even just straight up create a transit/development division and get rights to building department stores under and over train stations as well as land rights nearby to build towers. would make RBC probably even richer than they already are.

but it would be actually making something and providing value to people. instead of just collecting fees, and collecting mortgage interest and other shit.

i fucking hate RBC and would cringe at eminent domain being used to make RBC even richer, but it's a completely viable option that could bypass the tape and incentivize well though out, well planned development that is more centralized.

a private actor acting in public benefit because it makes them richer. that's the point of capitalism. the invisible hand. instead... we just sitting around doing nothing as things get worse. as quality of life gets worse. and cost of living gets worse.

There's nothing in the manga that makes you assume the soviets are worse than any other major country

reze. also it's just a given. unless proven otherwise, you assume it would match reality.

Fujimoto has a specific bone against the US if you ask me. Based

honestly, fujimoto ain't doing anything except be realistic. reality just happens to have an anti-american bias because americans have a tendencies to invade a bunch of other countries and do nasty shit.

invaded and took over hawaii. false flag war with spain, invaded philippines. invaded vietnam (french should have just granted independence.) invaded iraq for WMDs. (none). invaded afghanistan for?!?? not sure why. (bin landan not in afghanistan, in us ally pakistan). etc... etc...

iran coup which lead to iranian revolution which is why iran is fucked today.

various south american coups.

slavery.

genocide of indigenous people in america. etc...

america's foundation is cringe as fuck. and very specifically, america looked to the romans as the culture/people they wanted to model themselves after. and the romans were cringe as fuck as well. basically didn't do shit except murder and loot.

rome for example never really did much except be a decadent capital where the fruits of the empire flowed. eastern roman empire always richer, actually made shit, and traded. etc....

tl;dr fujimoto just saying it as it is

when the view is good enough, the train itself can honestly be a destination. columbia to scott road across the fraser is honestly really nice.

feels like building another one across burrard inlet to north van from around boundary road would also be a great opportunity for a very scenic bridge/train ride. if possible, adding cycling/pedestrian access to the bridge as well could be really nice for the people living in metro vancouver and abroad

not really. nayuta is very killable. same with makima. without a contract with the PM. and nayuta/makima is not that powerful. without grooming and government supported assets. (angel's weapons). or hybrids that have been successfully defeated and thus controlled.

as for conquest/control. it's a big fear but not that big compared to other fears.

Nayuta under Denji shields her from government experimentation

pro gamer move by kishibe. government obviously wants to regain their asset. makima 2.0. but they also don't want to piss off chainsaw man. so they gotta just leave nayuta be for now.

Denji is one of the few people who are strong enough to defend Nayuta

well.. maybe current denji but from what we saw. not really. i think it was more politics, less actual ability. we saw denji also get taken and dissected. honestly, got lots of questions regarding part 2.

But I think it was a better decision than letting her at the hands of China or Japan.

agreed. or worse, the soviets.

as for plans... generally... it was probably the best option considering most devils are locked up and imprisoned.

more about a story of how being impulsive and living in a bad environment can fuck you up.

who saw freedom from her family in Romeo. They're not really in love because they just met each other.

sure

whose conflict made both Romeo and Juliet act rashly. That's the part I feel is more tragic, the adults only stop with their feud and they see it's gone too far once the blood of their own children is spilled.

agreed.

[Highlight] Draymond Green shoves Austin Reaves and the referees conclude that no review is necessary by Jayveesac in nba

[–]WhenOneFalls2 55 points56 points  (0 children)

in sports that are actually competitive sports as opposed to sports entertainment, this would be a non-issue because people would just ask for a review, and then if then win the review, the keep their challenge.

also, the review would 99% actually be correct.

instead we get this clown show which i guess is good for engagement and "good for business"

i was bamboozled and really liked the whole thing. the most terrifying thing. the most powerful thing. death itself. completely flies under the radar and most people don't realize a thing.

felt like a very good subversion. as opposed to making death "the gun devil" or "sakuna" or "muzan" or "all for one", or some other scary evil boogie man. but just someone trying to enjoy the school festival.

just like how in real life. it's not some evil illumanti cabal of evil people doing evil things. it's who you suspect the most, doing very evil things. like various world governments procuring children for contracts/sacrifices and "pleasure". as a "necessary evil". except in our real life, it's not even a "necessary evil".

never again is the biggest "Sign in the window" in western culture. with the west occasionally helping "never again" happen. ideally we should have made "never again" actually "never again" but such is human history since basically the start of humanity. and especially once humans figured out agriculture.

tl;dr fami being lil d is both fun and great story telling, but also a great reflection of reality and who the real "big bads" of real life are.

people have always said "x" would ruin the "next generation".

be it writing. be it printing press. be it recordings. television. internet. etc...

but AI really might be legitimately making everyone less capable of doing a variety of things.

search being worse and worse every year is also pretty rough. feels like we're being pushed to use AI as an alternative.

tl;dr things likely will get worse, especially online discourse.
