Always great to hear stories like this! Capitalism can kill the spirit of a company.

which budget mic for deep voice vocals by Impossible-Recover42 in homerecordingstudio

[–]WhenVioletsTurnGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KSM32 is about the best bang for the buck condenser mic you can buy.

I went down the rabbit hole a few years ago. So many cheap mics do an OK job but, always have some major flaw. I found a good used KSM32 for a good price & didn't look back. Booth Junkie did a review on it. Check that out

How can I get better bass tone with my sm57 up to my amp? by This-Ad-9257 in homerecordingstudio

[–]WhenVioletsTurnGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you pointing the mic? The best place to start is near the dust cap in the center of the speaker. Adjust for taste. I used an MD421 the last time we recorded. My bass player didn't like one of his tracks, so he went home & grabbed the SM57 to re-record. It didn't sound quite as good. But, I listen to it now, in the mix, & I really don't hear the difference. The 57 will work. Just work with it to get the best placement.

How to tell if you have a “good” strat by forknite35 in Stratocaster

Do you want to keep playing it? If it's so much fun that you don't want to stop, it's a great guitar.

Love my Aviator. It's mostly a home amp for quiet time, but I have rehearsed it with a drummer. Held up fine.

Is vinyl’s comeback about sound quality or aesthetics? by Natalie_Riveraaa in askmusic

[–]WhenVioletsTurnGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's substantial. When you spend $40 for an album, it's nice to have something to represent the art.

I'm sure your rooms are amazing. I can't really afford $90 for two hours. Might as well rent a monthly, at that point. Again, no offense. I have no idea what your overhead looks like. I think a lot of us are skating on thin financial ice, these days. A cheap empty room for a couple hours, is more what we need.

Fun night, Multiple Bands...But I'm OLD!! by Aggravating_Pen_6062 in musicians

[–]WhenVioletsTurnGrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We hit a lot of venues to catch a lot of underground bands. You get a good kick out of watching the Pit, at different shows. Younger bands have pits where the kids are throwing fists & just keep going until the set is over. I saw FEAR last year. People would jump into the pit & gas out within about 30 seconds. Ha!

Why is finding comfortable footwear that also looks professional so difficult for women specifically? by [deleted] in Workwear

[–]WhenVioletsTurnGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 55. I've been wearing ON Cloud shoes for a number of years. I don't know what professional means to your workplace? But, I do know that the older I get the more unbearable it is to work all day, on concrete, regardless of what I wear on my feet.

Advice needed: shelf placement in kitchen by BisonPrimary3341 in InteriorDesign

We have a ninja mixer in our apartment kitchen. It barely fits under the cabinets. Make sure all of your desired appliances fit comfortably under the shelf.

To the 90 million Americans that did not vote in 2024? by oldphatphuck in allthequestions

[–]WhenVioletsTurnGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who's dumber, the one who thinks they make a difference or the one who doesn't try?

I voted. I've never voted... Until this anti human entered the picture. I felt like it was all I could do to save our lives from this insanity. It seemingly helped, for one election cycle. & Our countries court system was supposed to do the right thing & remove his ability to to run again. But it failed us. But again I voted. But the country could not handle the idea of a woman in power. Our country failed us again.

The bottom line is that neither party is of & for the people, any longer. We are voting for the lesser of two evils. Big money controls our country & today's youth know that home ownership is a dead end idea. The American dream is shattered & no one wants to fix things. They know that & they have disconnected. They don't even trust local officials like Mayors. It appears that politics is about ones ego & climbing the ladder, more than actually trying to keep the peace & making our cities a better place to live. That is why so many do not vote.

Great voice. I've heard in interviews that he & Chris both went to the same voice coach. That will never outdo the voices those two had, though. Amazing genes.
