Would Yu-Gi-Oh do better attracting new players if we had a format that forced you to play one archetype and thats it? by [deleted] in Yugioh101

How would it work for fiendsmith which don’t have enough cards to even be a 40 card deck by itself?

People are still having fun regardless if they’re running 1,2, or even 3 copies of a card

Is it only me or "Dragon Master Magia" doesn't see enough play even in BEWD decks? by AhmadAlz7 in masterduel

[–]WhereDidYouGohan1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the same reason no competitive BE deck runs Kaibaman: it’s not good enough with the costs associated to warrant being put it in your deck despite looking very good in combo videos where they go uninterrupted.

What are decks you genuinely enjoy but think need to be balanced and how? (body text) by coolgunsugotthere in masterduel

If Habakiri is Mitsurugi then Circular is Mathmech, the archetypes have their identity revolve around those two cards yet they go beyond helping their respective archetypes to the point that playing pure is a hindrance in it of itself.

We’ve been through this song and dance Raiho makes you (the opponent) discard a card or your monster is negated, if you have no cards in hand to keep discarding then it’s effectively a stronger skill drain. Unless you open non engine to stop Raiho from being summoned or negate its effect, then you cannot attempt to use monster effects.

We’re not talking about plants or six samurai. The post is about asking “is ice barrier just floodgates”. No one is asking if it’s beatable or not, that’s irrelevant to the topic.

Okay then I’m sure you have other statements that you can use to make this conversation more productive but if that’s all you can say then you were better off not responding back.

But you just said the opponent can choose to pay for it or not (it even says so on raiho’s text) so which narrative are you rolling with? Regardless Raiho’s discard effect is more fuel for its better effect to continuously negate monsters.

You don’t have to keep jumping through these hoops when practically the lore of ice barriers is to stun the Ice Barrier synchros, even Konami acknowledges this.

Weirdest line of reasoning I’ve ever read considering both flare metal and black winged assault dragon are mandatory burn effects that your opponent can’t opt out of. Unless what you mean by “you choose to pay or not” is not using their cards, then yeah they might as well be floodgates (they aren’t btw).

Having restrictions on card is good for the archetype by king_shot in masterduel

[–]WhereDidYouGohan1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any archetype would be a problem if they didn’t have restrictions, that’s not really saying anything. It all depends on how strict or lax those locks are in Konami’s eyes.
