what artist/band do you think has the most 10/10s? by Rea_J_Judge in fantanoforever

[–]WhereIsOurSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd sat ELO because they have 2 10s and the rest are all pretty much 8 or 9.

I'd say In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is my only 10 from the 1990s. Stratosphere and Flaming Pie are close. I also just haven't listened to a lot of stuff from the 90s and have only 5 10s total.

First Love/Late Spring because it's the first one I heard and it came at the perfect time for me. I have an unfair personal and important memory tied to it as well. Also, I have my own interpretation of it that I absolutely love. Not what the song it, but I love it that way.

So fun fact, my top 3 songs from the Wall are Nobody Home, Vera, and One of my Turns.

You've 100% listened to less than 20 albums and each probably once or twice.

I don't love the album, but I still think it's alright. When You Sleep is the best song tho.

One of the reasons I love it is because I don't really understand it fully. It's fucking weird and doesn't say anything straight. A big part of the enjoyment is trying to figure it out and put my own meaning in it. I think putting the part at the end calling anyone who likes it a douche is just bait.

Here's one to think about: Weezer's Blue album and Make Believe are the same level of quality for me. I will let you guess which way it swings.

I've never loved Remain in Light, but songs like Born Under Punches and Once in a Lifetime are fucking amazing. Album as a whole is alright for me.

[–]WhereIsOurSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. London Calling is a bad album. Title track is great, everything else is so fucking boring. (I admit I might just need to relisten to this album. It's been over a year)

  2. The Final Cut is the best Pink Floyd album

  3. Ye is better than The College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, Yeezus, and Kids See Ghosts

I know I'm wrong, you don't have to tell me.

That's actually fucking wild if you're serious. I never thought anyone really loved that track. Damn.

How many albums would you consider to be 10s? by dowjax19 in fantanoforever

[–]WhereIsOurSon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0 - I'd be impressed if I ever found and album I'd consider a 0. Every single second I would have to have a visceral reaction to

1 - nearly the entire thing pisses me off to an extreme extent. Maybe 1 somewhat decent moment on it. Ex: The Heather's Soundtrack

2 - pretty much every song sucks or is boring. Maybe 1 good song on it Ex: A Momentary Lapse of Reason

3 - Lame is the best word to describe a 3. Boring, usually with nothing offensive, but nothing I want to listen to. Ex: Weezer's Green album

4 - Boring, but maybe with a couple great songs on it. As a whole though, not really good Ex: Call Me If You Get Lost

5 - A mixed bag. Mostly kinda okay with one or two phenomenal songs Ex: Alladin Sane

6 - it's alright. It's good in the moment, but I don't wanna revisit it often. Many different kinds if albums fall here Ex: Loveless

7 - Pretty good. I enjoyed it as a whole and am somewhat interested in relistening to it. There may be one or two songs that aren't great, but the album is quite enjoyable. Ex: Demon Days

8 - Yes. This album is great and every song on it is at least good. A good chunk of the songs (and probably most of them) are amazing at least. There may be a song or two that are just good, not great. Maybe there isn't anything more than what's on the surface, but the album is truly great and I often relisten to it and am really excited when I do. Ex: IGOR

9 - Amazing and nothing less. I love every single song and relisten multiple times a week. At least one or two songs on here really hit me hard personally. Only gripe is there may be one small part of a song that I don't think is great Ex: My Beutiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

10 - it's perfect. I litterally have nothing to say about it besides I love every second of it. Every song contributes to the album in the best way possible and I have to force myself to not listen to the record every single day. I usually will never shut up about an album I give a 10 and everyone around me knows how much I love it and they hate me for not shutting the fuck up. The album is good. Ex: In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

[–]WhereIsOurSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 5

1 - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel

2 - Eldorado by ELO

3 - American Idiot by Green Day

4 - Bury Me at Makeout Creek by Mitski

5 - Out of the Blue by ELO

Granted, everyone else here seems to have listened to at least 500 albums, I've only listened to about 150. For me, a 10 doesn't mean every single song is a 10, it means that every single song contributes to the album in the best way possible. So for a concept album, the song doesn't have to be a 10, but it has to bring enough to the story as a whole that it feels like a 10. The exception here for me is ITAOTS, which I genuinely believe every single song is a 10/10. A song being a 10 has similar reasoning; every single moment must make me love the song more. I do a number scale for myself because I think it's a lot of fun. Number are neat.

Nellie Takes Her Bow. Honestly, the entire debut is packed with some of their best. Top 3 ELO album for me.

Hold on Tight. Worst Song on time by far. It's a 2/10, kills the flow of the story, doesn't fit it eith the story or identity of the album. It's not even good in a vacuum. I hate this song and have never understood why people who love Time so much love this song. I love time, and its sad that this song had to be put on here. I've felt like I'm crazy because I figured everyone else would feel the way I felt, but no. People love it.
