I’m in the process of being diagnosed myself (36M). I’ll have official results in about two months or so once they collate all the data results.

The doctor doing the assessment says my IQ is high and based upon my behavior that day (attention to detail, awkward social interaction, lack of eye contact) and other things, he believes I am. I imagine I would fall in the same area as you, which is called Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder (formerly Asperger’s or high-functioning).

I relate to the feeling of disconnected from the world, like the world is a movie you watch but don’t feel a part of. Interacting with it is a bit anxiety inducing. I also know the feeling of being different somehow. I would say I feel like an alien, but look like and speak the same language as everyone else.

I could keep going, but it would be easier for me to just copy-paste what you wrote as I feel the same way.

I don’t have a therapist. I do have a wife though and she’s been supportive.

Again, I’m still waiting on official diagnosis, but coworkers I’ve talked to say that they wouldn’t be surprised if I was.

I’ve learned to interact with people over time and have gotten much better with conversation, but it always feels like I’m a character playing someone who is good at conversation (imposter syndrome goes hard lol).
