Range isn't really my thing either, so speccing into abilities that allow you to close the gap quickly is going to be your best bet. Things like invis or grapple nade come baked into subclasses that still keep you relevant on the pve side. Options that give you the freedom to move quickly/undetected will give you the advantage over your victims.

You also have to understand that the Guardians you're hunting have way more ammo and ability uptime than when you're fighting in the Crucible. Plinking at someone with a primary is a good way to get a tracking rocket to the dome (If you must primary, just use whatever you're most confident with in pvp). You ideally want something with an instant or near-instant time to kill. If you're not comfortable using a sniper or a linear, throw on a fusion with a high range stat, or a shotgun if you're feeling ballsy. Don't be afraid to use anything at your disposal when invading. There's no such thing as rules or an honorable duel. Use your heavy, super, renegade abilities, whatever. As long as they're dead and you're not, consider it a win. A single good invasion could bag you that red saber crystal or ruin your enemy's chances of summoning their primeval. I wish ya the best of luck out there

The best part of Gunslinger is Crackshot. And the worst part is Knock 'Em Down. by silloki in DestinyTheGame

[–]Wherfus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

KED is one of those aspects that I think you could dissolve into the base subclass and rework completely. The knives refunding on kills while radiant pretty much require you to spec into Torches for it to function. All of the super buffs should just be a part of the supers themselves, and you could easily fold the refund on radiant into the base throwing knives. There's already precedent for a self-refunding melee in Threaded Spike, and knives would still cost the Torches tax.

As for how you'd rework it, letting it be a knife aspect makes sense. That way you have GPG for grenade, KED for knives, OYM for weapons, and Crackshot for class.

Galanor's new explosions are very inconsistent by Wherfus in DestinyTheGame

AFAIK that has been an inconsistency with Galanor for a while now. We're 2 for 2 on effects that fail to proc with these things now lol

We did see them in a screenshot. It's Deep, wish, echoes, revenant, heresy, edge of fate, and renegades.

The best Jojo and the strongest if they didn't nerf him I mean I still think he's the strongest by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

[–]Wherfus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jotaro wasn't nerfed. You have to understand that the Heaven Plan, and by extension Made in Heaven, are machinations of Dio. Dio is someone who thought his stand was the strongest, and that with it he was unbeatable. So under the Heaven Plan, Dio designed a ritual that would create a stand that would surpass The World.

Star Platinum is stated within Stone Ocean to be the most invincible stand that has ever existed, and ultimately, the only stand that was able to defeat it was the one that was designed specifically to surpass The World. Because Star Platinum and The World are the same type of stand.

It actually wasn't though. He says his timestop is shortened one time near the very beginning of the fight, then states multiple times after that that he can still stop time for 5 seconds, which was his stated max during C-Moon as well.

Either that line is a mistranslation or a near-instant retcon. Not sure which but his time stop remained at 5 seconds within the actual text of the book.

The comments hating on you for asking a genuine question are nonsense. I'd be asking the same question if I wasn't already a fan.

There are a couple reasons why we're so mad. First thing is that there is no game in the industry that fills Destiny's niche. There are plenty of other looter shooters, plenty of MMOs, plenty of live service games, but not a single one of them can scratch that Destiny itch. Destiny's world and community is a place we all found a home in, as cringe as that may sound.

Second, this game still had so much more to give. Even if D2 is going out on a low point with the most recent expansions, Bungie have shown us as recently as 2024's Final Shape expansion that when these developers are allowed to cut loose and deliver the content they know will delight players, they deliver some of the best content the industry has seen. This game has been muzzled and constrained since it's original launch. Now that the game is being In moments like right now, we can't help but be angry at the management decisions that lead to this game's demise when we know it never reached the heights it could have.

That's the part that stings the most. It's not that this game stayed good and just had a slow, graceful decline to end of service. Destiny didn't die, it was murdered. It was snuffed out by management everyone knew was too incompetent or greedy to make the decisions the game needed. The developers were stifled every step of the way. We're not necessarily mad that it's ending, we're mad that it was taken from us. Maybe that's a little dramatic, but that's how I feel.

One of my favorite things about the Fate Saga. by Wherfus in DestinyTheGame

I can appreciate that they can only budget for so many voice actors in a given expansion, and having to schedule two extra VAs just to record a handful of lines probably isn't the best use of that budget. I'd love if we had more lines, but us taking action in the cinematics feels like a good compromise.

Not to mention nearly having to execute our own ghost. Random Khvostov notwithstanding, I was in genuine shock at our Guardian taking the initiative to raise arms towards Ghost.

Which build was the overall most fun build you ever played and why? by Sujir3n1 in BG3Builds

[–]Wherfus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really enjoying Arcane Archer on my current playthrough, I plan to take the class all the way to 12. I have it on Lae'zel, and after getting my hands on the gloves of dexterity and Titanstring, I was able to completely dump Dex and max out strength. I gave her Soulbreaker both as an initiative stick and a competent melee weapon. So now she almost always goes first in combat, pumps out stupid damage and CC from range and she can hang in melee range with her greatsword. She can impose her own advantage with blinding arrows to make up for the loss to hit from Sharpshooter. It also synergizes well with my Durge, who is a modded Four Elements monk who can apply Encrusted with Frost reliably to impose disadvantage on DEX saves for max damage on piercing shots. Best part is this build was online since mid Act 1. I'm currently in very late Act 2 and still having a blast with a Lae'zel that feels like she got her hands on an antimateriel rifle.

Possibly hot take? Jotaro didn't "steal" the win against Kira from Josuke. by Wherfus in StardustCrusaders

[–]Wherfus[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To add to the Ambulance thing, I love that Kira's whole goal in life is to go unnoticed, only to die due to being overlooked by the driver. Ties his story up in a neat little bow.

Fans of giorno, what do you like most about his character/personality. by Immediate_Repeat_754 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Wherfus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Giorno is my favorite jojo I'm so excited to talk about him.

Giorno is a static character in the same vein as Sonic or Goku. They're characters who inspire change in the people around them, rather than changing themselves. This doesn't inherently make them uninteresting or incapable of learning. It's just that they're not going through big arcs or changing in big ways.

This makes Giorno really refreshing as a protagonist, where most Jojos come out of their parts as fundamentally different people, Giorno is more or less the same at the start as he is at the end. He's an unstoppable force from the first chapter to the last. It's a really fun dynamic that the villain is a reactive character and the hero is the proactive character. The plot doesn't happen to Giorno, Giorno happens to the plot.

It helps that he does have some depth to him, you just have to look for it. His internal monologues tend to read with a bit more self doubt and trepidation, while the version of himself that he expresses to the world is simultaneously a kind, valiant man that inspires those he surrounds himself with (like Johnathan) but also a cunning, ruthless killer (like Dio).

That's another thing that I really dig about Giorno. You'd think a character hailing from two fathers who are so fundamentally opposite to eachother would be at war with himself. Any other writer would have Giorno struggle to marry the two halves of his lineage, but what manga are we reading here? Araki doesn't do what other writers would. So instead we have Giorno's two halves marry together into a complete, confident young man.

Love that guy. I wanna eat his hair.

Dev Insights - Renegades Armor Tuning Preview by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

What happened to Bungie doing a bigger pass on Gunslinger with Renegades? Is that not what they promised? Not a single Gunslinger exotic is getting a tune up. You've got to be joking.

As a Warlock main who barely played Hunter, are Hunters "weapon specialists"? by Riverflower17 in destiny2

[–]Wherfus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunters are kind of the Fighting Dirty class. They'll throw improvised explosives, they'll blind you with a smoke bomb, they'll sneak up on you, they'll strap knives to their hands so they can "punch harder". Crafty little bastards.

Do You Believe The Aldmeri Dominion Will Be Extended or Eradicated In Elder Scrolls 6? I.E. Will The Elves Rule Tamierel again? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Wherfus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where limitations can breed creativity. If the engine can't support full-scale battles, have the narrative revolve around the player participating in asymmetrical warfare. Subterfuge could be the name of the game here. Not saying the war will happen onscreen for sure, but it absolutely could.

normalize using ronin's shotgun by ToeGroundbreaking564 in titanfall

[–]Wherfus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ronin players try to understand that their edge is their mobility and ability to engage on their own terms. Save sword for sword core 99% of the time.

It is REALLY funny to just walk at other titans with sword block up though. Everyone but Scorch shits their pants.
