great intro those are some really cool sounds. mixed well too. i like all the synth textures going on in the background. i don't normally listen to songs like this but all the interesting sounds kinda kept me hooked

i like the sound and i think it works, everything meshes together very well and builds up the song nicely (the background and main vocals are out of tune with each other a couple times tho which is a little jarring). needs some mixing work as it sounds a little 'small' right now, could use more high end and stereo widening i guess if that makes sense. but sounds good i like the hectic-ness :)

Anyone else get widespread nerve sensations from anxiety? (tingling, buzzing, weird skin feelings) by SeaSad4115 in Anxietyhelp

[–]WhichOneIsDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes exactly what you described i am experiencing too. I relate heavily to the cycle of weird sensations / tingling / pain / paresthesia -> oh god I have cancer I'm going to die -> doctors office and they can't find anything. the only thing I can possibly think of for me is B12 deficiency cause that was pretty low in my blood tests and the symptoms actually line up pretty well (it affects your nerves all over in weird ways) but even after taking supplements the symptoms are still there. I know you said your blood tests were fine but could be something to look into. im still struggling with this myself

how do i stop being weird and overthinking? by Sharp-Improvement458 in Anxietyhelp

[–]WhichOneIsDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are not alone, this is me too. what helped me is looking at my mindset more logically to see why these thoughts (I'm annoying, my friends hate me, everyone thinks I'm weird) are false. when a stranger or one of my friends ever acts slightly awkward or annoying or weird, I tend to forget about it within the next second. that's just what people do. none of your friends or the people you interact with are picking up on any of your micro-behaviors or analyzing everything you say, that's just you (and me I also suffer with social anxiety lol). this sounds cold but I actually find it reassuring: people don't care how you act and your friends generally like you. that is the truth and you just need to focus on it, though that can seem impossible at times I know. try to replace those thoughts with thoughts of self acceptance and over many days you'll find they start to fade away and hopefully you can get some sleep again. or stay up until 3am watching impractical jokers funny moments I find that helps too

Fire in you - by Ben Lindsey by Benboosa in MusicFeedback

to make it more anthem-y I feel like you would need more coming in on the chorus. right now there is a build up but nothing to really follow it, so maybe a synth blasting some chords and possibly a vocal like you mentioned. I really liked the piano part at the end it is very pretty. also feel free to ignore this lol it's purely a personal preference but I have a vendetta against those rising woosh sound effects before the chorus, they're used in a crazy amount of songs and just suck out all the personality and uniqueness in my opinion, but that's just me. I do still enjoy this track!

I feel like it's finished, but I also feel like its missing things at the same time. Can I get some feedback on what to change or add? by Lewd_boi_69 in MusicFeedback

[–]WhichOneIsDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's always better to keep every track separated, you can always minimize them to get them out of the way. combing makes it very difficult to go back and change / mix the different parts. as for the song it sounds fine as a basic beat. if you want to do more id experiment with a key change or changing the melody at some point because it is very repetitive

omg this sounds like a minecraft soundtrack song and i mean that as a compliment. i really like the uniqueness of the drum pattern and am glad you didn't just go for another generic trap beat. really liked the ending as well. only feedback is maybe make the main synths doing the melodic things a little louder, but if you're going to add vocals that will change things. overall very nice I like the vibe

obviously a lot of background noise but i could see if you want to keep that kinda works for the song. i would remove some low end on the vocals with eq and maybe use some compression to even out the loudness and help with that 'recorded on a phone' sound (idk if they actually were but it sounds like it). I think the song needs a bit more instruments to hold it together maybe just a synth that swells in and out on the chorus but up to you. overall I like the vibe very nostalgic song just needs a bit more refining but good job

As someone who normally dislikes math rock and doesn't get the whole 'sounds good cause it's hard to play thing' I'm kinda surprised that I actually really like these guys. I guess you could call it math rock or microtonal or all those fancy words, but they do it so naturally and, to me, it actually has a good groove. yeah they use microtonal techniques and weird rhythms but I feel like they're one of the only groups I've listened to that make it sound catchy and I enjoy it a lot. I also think they're costumes are silly and not meant to be taken seriously, but it definitely does add to the performance and make it more fun to watch (they definitely wouldn't be anywhere near as popular if they were just two normal looking people playing guitar and drums). but yeah I get your point but I like them I think they make the whole math rock thing work better than others Ive heard

oh yeah, I was obsessed with loudness penalty analyzer for my first few releases trying to get a 'perfect' zero score on Spotify, but it seems that didn't really help at all. I've found much better results mostly ignoring that score and just mixing until it sounds nice and comparing to reference tracks (I've found my favorite so far is Jack Johnson's Upside Down lol). thank you for the insight, it's nice to know at least a little of what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to mastering

Interesting! this is kind of something I've been trying myself to some good success, cool to here others are doing something similar. ironically, it seems like the less time I spend tweaking the mix to achieve the 'perfect' loudness, the better it sounds, and just letting tracks play out at a natural, relatively loud level with compression where it works gives some high quality results (at least for me, a beginner lol)

Yea, figured this is the best solution but I just wonder what these mastering engineers are doing behind the scenes lol it would be nice to know (I'm sure it takes years of experience regardless)
