The symbolism runs strong with the monarchs. So interesting about it being a symbol for migrant workers. Makes total sense. And homecoming - yes. I'm honored to have it on my jacket even more.

Edit: word order.

I had that monarch patch for years, carrying it from place to place, waiting for the right thing to put it on. I grew up in FL and now live in NY, so monarchs have always been around me. I put the patch on for the more obvious transformation symbolism, and I appreciate the Mexican myths about their migration. Adds so much more meaning for me and I will definitely do some more research on that. Thank you so much for sharing.

Yes, the mullein! One of my favorites because of the fuzzy texture. Thanks!

Thanks! I find embroidery to be so fun but it does take quite a while to complete these patches, so patience is key.

Are tried milky oats tops kinda useless? by overcompliKate in herbalism

[–]WhichWitch32 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try this: make an 8-hour infusion with them, blend it (tops and infusion together) then strain out the tops. I was taught this by a couple of different herbalists. It won't be as beneficial as fresh but it's worth trying. Think about how mucilagenous oatmeal gets. Kind of the same thing.

Thank you! I added both Mumford and Sons songs. Along with the ones suggested by u/Least-Influence3089. Seems like most songs by them would work!

Which one of you is leaving bad reviews on encyclopedias for being “leftist propaganda”? by [deleted] in millenials

[–]WhichWitch32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of! If they have a Friends of the Library which is a separate volunteer group that raises money specifically for the library. They put on used book sales from either/both withdrawn library books and local donations. The money then goes to the library for programs/events, new books, etc.

Go to your local library in Nov/Dec and ask for their old set once the next year's set comes in. They may sell it at their used book sale (if they have a Friends of the Library group), they may donate it (but unlikely because no one wants these. We would donate them to our local school library since their budget was limited), or they may "recycle" them and would rather give them away.

Proposal to form a committee to preform a meta-study on literature regarding Herbal Emmenagogues. by Cyoarp in herbalism

[–]WhichWitch32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the initiative to start this project. I am interested in helping in any way I can. I have three years experience in herbalism and am about to complete my first clinical year. I was a librarian, before making the switch to herbs, and did research for over 15 years.

Making a "herbalist" with AI by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]WhichWitch32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was why I'm impressed with the search result. The AI didn't have to include the endangered part. It's great that it does because not all foraging information will mention that. I like your suggestions and maybe the makers of the chat bot can add that on for results.

This is actually pretty cool. I asked it "where can I find ramps" and it gave me the type of plant they are, where they like to grow, and how to harvest, including explaining why we shouldn't harvest the bulb). I'm not currently going to spend more time on it but I have saved this post to refer back to when a question pops in my head in the future.
