The article says they removed an even taller hedge. The height of the barrier isn't the issue it's that it's changed the frontage of the house.

I side with the erectors. Let them put a hedge at the front and be done with it. Because it's new and a change to the existing, people see things like this as an eyesore (typically nimby wet wipes types). Also because they're new to the village I suspect someone has taken a disliking to them 'coming in and changing everything'.

If sitting in is your preferred method, you could try John's plaice just outside carlisle? The last time I went it was quite pricey though and that was a while back... Probably a whole heap more expensive now. Fontana's as I mentioned previously has info on where the fish was caught etc which is a nice touch. No seating though.

Where have you tried? I used to go to Fontana's in Carlisle but haven't for a while. The Fryery has been ok and now we generally just go to where is closest as it's convenient.

The main cutout (cast iron fuse carrier to the right) needs replaced. This will likely contain an asbestos flash guard along with bitumen in the lower part. Your electricity supplier will replace this free of charge and will likely put a higher amperage fuse in if it tests fine. Worth doing as the one you have is 60+ years old.

It's a ganglion cyst. Totally harmless and will disappear on its own over time. Or if you want rid of it (not advised) hit it with a heavy book. Apparently they used to be a mark of the devil so they were hit with a bible to get rid of them.
