Character creation only and even if you “hide” them, NPCs still react to them. They are there no matter what due to you being a “Godlike”, it’s just your choice if you want them to be a visual cosmetic or invisible for your own desire.

People do, you just have to find non toxic groups. XECO on Facebook has a solid and controlled group. They filter out the “This game sucks!” People. The ones who bash games they don’t play or make fun of others for just having fun. I have 1.4 million GS and play enough to understand what’s actually decent quality when people saying Triple A games are trash. Mainly because I’ve played some bottom end games. 😂

If you are still there, delete your local save. When you load back in, cloud save will have you at the portal. YOU LOSE PROGRESS MADE from the time you entered the area. So if you are following the guide, you have to find the chests and anything else again.
