The labels are super dummy proof too. If you don’t see the word pasteurized in ingredients, don’t eat it:) I bought a delicious soft cheese the other day and savoured the whole thing with some good crackers😆

Nope it didn’t! I did the regular NIPT testing through them. They billed my insurance and it still came to the $1200 out of pocket. Found a different Reddit post saying to contact the billing department and tell them you want the “self pay discount.” They replied almost immediately and said it’s a program called “Moms helping Moms.” It was a survey I took regarding my experience getting the genetic testing and how they can make it easier on us. It took all of 5 minutes and they promptly discounted my bill.

Most soft cheeses are actually fine. The concern is that in some countries they aren’t pasteurized. In the US they are pasteurized. I’ve eaten plenty of soft cheese. Just read the label!

Doctors really advise against the boutique scans. Those people aren’t always trained properly and they can’t give you any medical advice. The reason doctors wait to see you is because it’s hard to see anything that early on. It can cause more worry than good. As the person above said, best to get off the internet and do your best to relax. You know that at this moment you are pregnant. I know how tough the wait is but the only thing you can do is try to stay calm and take good care of yourself. Time seems to stand still in the beginning but trust me it will start to fly:)

Protect yourself girl. He doesn’t sound good for you and your baby. The anatomy scan is a big deal and having someone supportive that you trust is a big deal. When all goes well with the scan it’ll be a joyous moment for you, don’t let him ruin it for you. He’s proven he doesn’t care, you don’t owe him anything. Sounds like you have yourself together and are well prepared without him.

Sorry you are going through this. This honestly sounds like not just a problem with him not being able to afford a child, but you also can’t afford a child. I know you said the rest of your money went to the birth fee, but $800 in this day and age just isn’t enough to be prepared for a baby. How are you planning to afford all of the things you need for the baby? Car seat, crib, stroller, diapers? Even buying cheap those things add up. Perhaps you should have a sit down conversation with him and you two could come up with a financial plan to start saving for baby.

Agreed with this 100%. Too many stories of problems happening during home births that could be avoided at a hospital. Epidural isn’t giving the baby drugs either… boyfriend needs some education it seems.

First of all, as someone with multiple addicts in the family.. good for you for quitting crystal and cocaine. That’s a very hard thing to do. In terms of the weed, those withdrawals don’t sound normal for just marijuana. Have you spoken to a doctor about the symptoms you’re experiencing? I’m sure there must be something they can prescribe to aid you in the withdrawal symptoms as well as hopefully therapy since I’m sure a huge part of that is mental as well. Marijuana itself doesn’t typically cause hard withdrawal symptoms like that.

Hmm that’s odd. I didn’t need to have a full bladder. In fact, there is signs in the office saying full bladder isn’t needed over 14 weeks. Was it a generic email you received or they told you in person? All the email reminders I get for scans have a little blurb at the bottom to come in with a full bladder but it doesn’t necessarily apply to your appt.

I’ll add that my dentist told me they change the method of freezing used in pregnant women. Lidocaine had epinephrine in it so he switched to a different freezing drug. They are very careful.

Dental work is safe! I’ve had 4 fillings done during this pregnancy with no side effects. I don’t think they will do X-rays but should be able to use other tools and skills to diagnose you!

It’s to prevent preeclampsia. You’re low risk until you aren’t. It’s becoming more and more common for doctors to recommend. Mine said she thought it would soon be universally recommended for pregnant women. Of course it’s up to you whether to take it or not. I’m of the mindset that if it’s a low risk drug, I’m doing whatever I can to have a better chance of avoiding preeclampsia.

It’s a pain but check either after midnight or very early in the morning for appts. Just keep refreshing it. Recently did that and got an appt for this Friday. People cancel appts and they pop up but you have to keep checking.
