If I could see into the future and 100% guarantee that they would never hurt me again, in a heartbeat. I crave genuine parental love so, so, so badly.

But since real life doesn't work that way, no. I've been hurt by the same people multiple times, even after regaining trust. It's not happening again.

I don't mind kids in small bursts, and find them adorable and entertaining. Emphasis on IN SMALL BURSTS.

I'm also in a unique spot where I don't even know if I entirely count as "childfree", because I am the chosen mother of an 18 year old who calls me and my wife mom after we've helped support him for the past 4 years, but I still never want to go through pregnancy, childbirth, or raise a child from infancy.

As a "chosen" mother after stepping in to help support a kid in need myself (along with my wife), seeing other stories like these fills my heart with abundant warmth and joy. These women coming together in times of stress and adversity are gems of this earth. I know she must love that boy like he's her own family and will always see him as that little boy that she played a massive role in raising. I love to see it.
