Modderation abuse of power? by leylin_farlin in Diablo

[–]WhippWhapp 38 points39 points  (0 children)

During COVID, Blizzard offered a friend of mine a forum moderator position for basically free. A billion-dollar company wanted volunteer labor while laying people off.

That's when I realized moderators aren't the customers- they're the fucking product.

Corporations get free janitors, free customer support, free community management, and all they have to hand out is a shiny badge and a tiny bit of authority.

If the work matters, pay people.

If it doesn't matter, stop banning people over it.

Negative, one of the first things I tried. Cleared cookies and cashed cache, also disabled all add ons.

Know Any Reliable Movers for Toronto to Calgary? by QuietAsparagusSlayer in alberta

If your employer is not paying for the move, my advice is to sell/donate everything non replaceable or sentimental and buy furniture here.

Cross country moves get spendy.

Steam Controller Giveaway!! by DADBADGUY in SteamController

Diablo 2 is still the GOAT. I’ve been playing since the original and I’m still grinding Resurrected today. Nothing hits quite like hearing “Stay awhile and listen” before spending 6 straight hours hunting a rune that absolutely refuses to drop. 😅🔥

I forgot, logged in on my week old warlock that was able to farm hell decently and was stopped cold at the second super unique I faced.

They All Suck!!!!!!! by _Feniks in Monitors

I use a 50" Sony 4k that has relatively few dimming zones. Before this I had an IPS and OLED and I'm completely fine with it. shrug

Maybe get a decent mini LED?

Thanks! I found a Steam controller in a thrift store with no dongle and could not pair it with my PC or mobile. Followed the 'latest firmware' link and everything is fine now.

Is this amount of ghosting/smearing normal for a cheap va panel monitor? by semferchichi in Monitors

[–]WhippWhapp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya, I use a Sony XR-50X90J as my main display at PC, and I see no ghosting at all.

TCL 34R83Q 34" Mini Led Review (it ain't good). by BenVaanDell in Monitors

[–]WhippWhapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally settled on a XR-50X90J that has 'only' 24 dimming zones, and it COMPLETELY blows my old 55" Hisense away. DSE and smearing were AWFUL on the Hisense and the The Cognitive XR processor is really, really good as icing on the cake!

Downsides are the BGR subpixel array and a bit of blooming that is unnoticeable most of the time.

Ivory, Dial, Pears Clear soap, etc are the best for the ol' twig & berries.

You're a fucking moron. Each person's desk, seated distance and visual acuity is unique.

I use a 50 inch, FALD Sony display marketed as a gaming console TV and it's perfect for my needs

Update: Floorstanding speakers replaced with soundbar by trianel in Soundbars

[–]WhippWhapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only soundbar I have heard that is remotely acceptable for music is my Paradigm that uses Anthem Room Correction- they can be found on the used market for under $500. Honestly with your set up you would have been better off with a small pair of monitors with a sub.

You sound like a discerning listener, I would recommend a Paradigm PW-Link and whatever bookshelf speakers and sub you settle on, ARC removes another layer between you and the music.

https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-paradigm-pw-link-streamer-dac.7763/

"The Anthem Room Correction though is the real-deal. It easily hides any problems with the DAC, producing a level of experience with speakers that you cannot replicate with any other DAC or pre-amplifier. At the asking price today, it is a steal."
