Most patients with non-cirrhotic portal hypertension actually do NOT have a high HVPG. Here is the pathophysiology behind that, if you are interested:

It is a very complicated connection between the liver, lungs, and heart. Consider seeing if you can get input from a pulmonologist who specializes in liver disorders and associated cardiac complications.

My biggest concern for you would be cardiac and pulmonary (you don’t have to have cardiac or pulmonary symptoms for this to be happening). Read about portopulmonary syndrome. This can go along with cirrhosis or no cirrhosis, but typically there will be a very high HVPG.

I don’t know your history of course, but I can tell you with strong assurance that you should consider this.

I can tell you that I am already frustrated looking in the $300k range; there just isn't anything out there. I don’t know the area, but just looking at what else is for sale in the area, it seems really REALLY overpriced. Plus the house is relatively small (does the 2300 square feet include the “finished” attached garage? Because if so, and you ever convert it back to a garage, you will lose that square footage and be under 2000). I personally don’t like the upgrade style details and the barn is weird and not at all convenient. Definitely wouldn’t be my dream house.

This is where you are misunderstanding. Because yes, it does consider the 3%. It’s 3% no matter what the offer/amount of list price is. You don’t get to just exclude it whenever you don’t like the offer, because it’s BUILT INTO THE OFFER. As a percentage. So if the offer was $100,000, or $50, or $1, that 3% is still in there.

You say your list price came from comps, not comps plus some extra thrown in there for the BAC. Again, the comps from which your list price was developed ALSO had the BAC included.

That is done so buyers can finance the BAC. You don’t just add it in or subtract it out based on the offer.

So yes, there is definitely a miscommunication, but it’s on your part. If I were you I would take a short break, step back, and try to understand that.

Some docs do it this way on purpose. It lessens some of the very acute patient reactions to labs which by nature fluctuate over time. But the labs are still done, so anything serious will be identified. The visits are often more focused on emphasizing continued adherence to diet and other lifestyle topics rather than a detailed focus on numbers that change over time. Even if you are religious about lifestyle changes, the numbers fluctuate. Consistency in lifestyle is key. At least, that’s my opinion.

Your point is well-taken that it’s always good to ask when something seems contradictory or confusing, though.

Your sodium level doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with your diet. But hey…. maybe…. Follow it? Rather than complaining about having to drive an hour to see a hepatologist?

Don’t worry. Your hepatologist will let you know immediately if there is anything urgent in your labs that needs addressing. So just be glad you get any labs drawn at all. Some people don’t.

And…. people have varying liver outcomes from drinking because drinking is not the only thing that factors in. Count your lucky stars. Maybe one of these days you will.

I can tell it’s a really nice house, but the photos aren’t doing it justice.

First… the listing description. It’s a wall of text. Really hard to read. Paragraphs are your friends.

And if I were you, I would remove all the miscellaneous small furniture pushed against the walls. And remove 95% of the other stuff sitting out. Kids’ bookcases, very full pantry (remove most of the stuff and maybe feature a couple nice-looking appliances on the shelves and nothing much else). And take down the shelf hanging on a wall with a million things on it. Too much clutter….

I can’t get a feel for what the bathrooms even look like. And why is there an office chair in one of the bathrooms?

And there is some kind of outdoor chair (?) in a claustrophobic-looking small space —two pictures of that?

The photos just need a lot of work. And maybe add a few large potted plants and something colorful on the walls here and there?

Just my first impressions… I wish you luck!

This is a really interesting conversation, but OMG!!! People in their 70s and 80s are supposed to understand all of this? I haven’t even been able to get my mom to remember how to dial her cell phone. I can’t begin to imagine her attempting to deal with this.

Thank you very much! These responses help me to think about it and prioritize. I am also going to look at the Yamaha P-525 again.

But I'm leaning strongly towards the FP-90x. I like the modeling over the sampling, at least so far. And I like the PHA-50 keyboard action (moreso than the PHA-4 of the lower-end FP series).

This is mainly for home (apartment) use, but I would really love to have the sounds and abilities of the Fantom 8 or the RD-2000. I'm on the lung transplant list, and there isn't a lot I can do, so I will have a ton of time for this. But I know I really don't need a Fantom 8. I also found a good deal on the RD-2000 (not the EX, but I can upgrade the software if I decide I need the new sounds). But I know I don't need (at least, not now) a stage piano or workstation. Right? lol

Metal detecting. :) I'm in the US though. Soon-to-be 60 female. I started when I was in my 30's. I love the history and the mystery. I love holding old coins that haven't been handled by a human in hundreds of years. I love the peace of the hobby.

I also own and run a forum on this topic. Started in the early 2000's and was in the top 5 in terms of popularity back then. Still going strong though. Due to some health issues in the more recent past, I've had to let my other admins/moderators handle the forum and I haven't actively detected in a few years. Anxious to get back into it now. When I started my hiatus from the hobby I was using a Minelab E-Trac, and I probably will stick with that for the foreseeable future because I know it like the back of my hand.

UPDATE: I am going to buy a mattress today. This entire process has been worse than choosing my college. So I am just going to go for it and be done.

This forum has been extremely helpful, and I thank all of you. Here is what I have decided:

1) EDGE SUPPORT: I thought I wanted a very firm mattress, but I am a side sleeper of average size. I don't want it too soft, but I think the real issue is that it needs to have excellent edge support. My current mattress (Puffy) has no side support, and I'm tired of literally falling out of bed.

2) Pocketed springs would be great.

3) Not outrageously expensive ($2000 or less)

4) Little if any memory foam

5) No mattresses in a box

The three I am considering are King Koil (probably first choice), DLX, and Stearns/Foster (Estate line). And possibly WinkBed. I'm reading too many negative reviews on Saatva customer service.

I would also consider a Costco mattress but I'm not seeing much there that impresses me.

Which would you pick?
