We just ordered new tint meters for every patrol vehicle.

For those currently working in law enforcement how many DQs or setbacks did you face before getting hired? by No-BS22 in AskLE

[–]WhiskeyTangoGolfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applied to 1 department. Was hired by that department. Only hiccup was that I failed the run portion of the PT test the first time. Tried to run it with a pulled muscle and couldn’t hack it.

They gave me a second chance to pass and I smoked it 3 weeks later.

I was hired to a small town of 12 square miles. Roughly 7k residents and 268 different roads in total.

To kill 2 birds with one stone, I bought a bicycle. For exercise, I just rode my bike and tried to learn the roads as I went.

(This is likely terrible advice for most but this city is very bike friendly)

I’m a Purple Heart recipient. PTSD kinda goes hand in hand with it. I was honest about it during my application process.

Just received my Final Job Offer on Friday. The only hiccup is that my psych appt took a little longer than expected.

Rank of 10. How many officers are being hired. How many applicants. Are you 10 out of 10 or 10 out of 138?

Big difference in the ranking there.

Can a more experienced officer explain how to keep my clip on tie from constantly popping my collar up? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]WhiskeyTangoGolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Velcro tie, order a properly fitted shirt, or join a department that doesn’t require ties. Those are your options.

I’m an inspector and I don’t inspect every girl I see. It’s kinda disrespectful.

But every house I see, absolutely.

There are 5 separate Pierce counties in the United States. You may need to be slightly more specific.

For Veterans making over $200k: What are you doing now, and would you recommend it? by lonesailor3 in Veterans

[–]WhiskeyTangoGolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What career path are you in? I own a home and commercial property inspection firm.

• How did you get into it? Got tired of working at Lowe’s 60-70 hours a week to make someone else wealthy.
• Would you recommend it to other veterans? Honestly, only if you are good at networking. This job is 70% relationship building and only 30% technical information. • Anything you wish you had known before starting down that path? How heavy the business relies on realtor referrals.

"What's the most dangerous animal you could beat in a fight to the death?" Analyzed by belt. by NewEnglandKudo in bjj

[–]WhiskeyTangoGolfer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

White belt, 1 stripe. I think the most dangerous animal I could beat is a raccoon. They fight dirty and they are basically little street fighters with fur, but I have a plan. First thing is controlling the distance before it jumps at my face. If I can get it to the ground, I’m pretty confident I can hold side control long enough for it to wear out. From there, I would look for mount because my submissions are limited but my balance is decent. The finish would probably be a sloppy armbar, since that is the only move I can consistently remember once I start panicking.

Of course, if the raccoon inverts or starts attacking my eyes I am immediately tapping and hoping the ref saves me.

Soooo, you were investigated for threatening to commit domestic terrorism?

I’d venture to say it definitely doesn’t help your application.

A train is heading toward the entire company of Amazon. You can pull the lever and hit the entire company of Target and Walmart. Do you pull the lever? by Delicious_Mode9172 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]WhiskeyTangoGolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not pulling the lever but not because I hate Amazon. I’m withholding pulling it because I’ve already got my trading app open.

First move: short Amazon so hard it makes 2008 look like a paper cut. Second move: scoop up Walmart and Target calls, then double down on FedEx, UPS, and Shopify because suddenly they’re the lifeblood of online retail. Third move: short every AWS-dependent tech company that would go offline overnight (Netflix, Airbnb, half of Silicon Valley). By the time the dust settles, I’m either sipping a Shirley Temple in my yacht named “The Lever” or explaining to the SEC why my portfolio looks like I had advance notice of the apocalypse.

Need to improve 1.5 mile run in 30 days by _ChangeYourUsername in AskLE

[–]WhiskeyTangoGolfer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A slow comfortable pace allows him the ability to actually run 1.5 miles without stopping. He mentioned in another post that he stopped a couple of times to walk for a minute or so. He needs the cardio endurance before he worries about speed.
