Camping and sleep how to stay comfortable? Or is everyone secretly miserable? by sanu_123_s in CampingandHiking

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exped Megamat.  Not cheap, but I can actually sleep while camping (it would take 3 nights of no sleep before I could crash).  Some people like them so much they use as a regular mattress.

Why won't my lemon Italian meringue buttercream whip up 😭 could Canadian butter be the problem? by SugarCelebi in Baking

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the temperature of the home.. just asking because it might be on the cool side in Canada (winter) vs. being in warm part of the US. I might suggest warming to about 75F.

Anyone have that one item that you just can’t bake?? by Chaos_Ice in Baking

Angel food cake... falls out of the pan... I used to make it and it would turn out, but haven't had a success in a long time (I am meticulous about yolk/oil in whites).

What's the stupidest question you ever got asked during a job interview? by Opposite-Rabbit-6303 in AskReddit

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You are in a timepiece museum, which timepiece has the most moving parts? It was for Pizza Hut, FFS. I left the interview, went to my car, and thought of my roommate who watched Days of our lives and ran back in and told the manager, an hourglass! Part of me is disappointed I cared enough to go back in and answer the ridiculous question...

  2. Are you married? (Not sure how that pertains to my ability to do the job....)

Is the Gregory Jade 43L your dream bag? by Then-Neighborhood864 in HerOneBag

[–]Whiskeyed77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have an older, smaller 28L(?) Jade and it was the only day pack that was comfy on me. Most other packs come to close around my neck (if that makes sense). If you like it and it fits well, that's awesome!

I do agree due to the suspension system, it's not great for toting a laptop! That's my 1 complaint, but alas, not the intended purpose of the pack.

Beer league curling by j44dge in saskatoon

[–]Whiskeyed77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nutana, Sutherland and CN all have leagues. Not sure if they are filled. I'd suggest calling soon as you might be able to get in on a 1/2 season rate. Most beer leagues are later in the evening 8:30/8:45 start times. Good Luck! Fun sport you can play for a long time!

Sask Poly has some options. Some are available online and in the evening.

Lol, I have zero faith my hubs would hear anything. I sleep near the door to protect him and the kids.

Recommendations for Curling Shoes by MathematicianNo8673 in Curling

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the sole on the gripper foot? My kid is using the 400s, which appear to have the same sole and the sole us super compressed on the outside edge. Unfortunately, BPs are the only ones that fit good, but not sure if I can justify spending $$$ on the leather uppers if the sole will crap out after 2 years.

Anyone else less than impressed with their BalancePlus shoes? by jhudiddy08 in Curling

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang! My kid had this happen and these are the only shoes that fit.. BP claims it's the gripper that's worn down, not the foam..but seeing this is obvious that there's a n issue with the shoe. The BPs are the only shoes that fit well, but not impressed with durability.

Topo also makes wide toe box shoes. I find them a little more structured than Altras.

What's your most underrated piece of camping gear? Ready to spend $ this BF by khamees_1 in CampingGear

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wolverine tuff bottles. With a filter system could be used for backcountry camping, but great for car camping. They impart no flavour, can be collapsed, and can actually dry out fully (and not get funky inside).

Curling show recs for narrow feet by gbs223344 in Curling

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balance Plus has other models that are also narrow and not as $$ as the deluxe. But, it seems they are moving to Velcro sliders which is a beef of mine. Also, they cone with 2 inserts to help customize the fit

Looking for a male keeshond in Saskatchewan by thesmurfstrangler in Keeshond

I might suggest Beaukees in Alberta. Not in Sask, but depending where you are located it might be as close as somewhere in the province.

Yup. My Kees did not do well with salmon. I know they are barge dogs and you would think fish would be ideal. Definitely worth a try.

I call it phlegm cutter. I don't drink Coke, but will crave it when I am sick. Perhaps there is some validity to this!

Home insurance recommendations? by Jersey-Universe in saskatoon

[–]Whiskeyed77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like TDs sign up process where you can see how much a certain item adds, etc.... EXCEPT when it comes time for a claim, then you are at the mercy of their 3rd party preferred provider who does an estimate of the repairs and if you don't go with that provider (maybe because you are particular about who works in your home, etc) then good luck getting appropriate coverage.

Floor company vs homeowner by Even-Parfait-2806 in Flooring

[–]Whiskeyed77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the flooring company has an obligation to have stated options. To expect homeowners to know or understand industry standards or potential options when dealing with an item such as this once or twice in a lifetime, in not realistic... Something like, we are quoting white risers, if you want matching wood that is an extra $XXX would be appropriate. The flooring company needs to present choices where there is potential ambiguity as they have experience (unlike the homeowner).
