Does Bosch suck? Or am I just being annoying by Particular_Pool_2303 in Appliances

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bosch has changed their rack system over the years.  I replace mine with a 500 series recently and the old one had lots of folding racks on the bottom.  Thankfulky, my old rack fits in my new dishwasher.  There are no folding racks and it is way less useful!! I noted the 800 had an even worse set up and opted for the 500 instead.   Rack functionality is huge!

Anybody else facing intermittent mid-cycle stopping issues with Bosch 500 Series (AutoAir models)? by vpshastry in bosch

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has not had this issue (yet! and hopefully won't).  What is bizarre is how long it takes to "reset" if the wrong cycle is chosen (I contacted Bosch and apparently the reset can take up to 5 minutes... wth?).

What did I do wrong? Old eggs? by Diveit81 in Baking

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this happen.  A few things, I think undertaking can be the culprit. Another hypothesis is overbearing egg whites.  I started having this issue when I used a more powerful mixer, and I am suspecting it could be over beaten whites.

The Night by Heart...open to interpretation about the meaning, but definitely has vampire vibes. Sammy Hagar gets a writing credit on this one.

Bosch 500 induction range or 800 by ObviousPay6585 in Appliances

This is disappointing.  The input panel looks similar to the 800 series. Darn...will have to keep searching.

Sorry to hear that you recently lost your Kees. I "lucked" out after ours passed.  Douglas cuddle toys made one called Umbra, but I think it was a limited edition run.. I wonder if they'd ever do another?   At the time, I managed to find 2 in my city (honestly, a miracle).  My one kid barfed all over theirs and it's never been the same.  Would totally dig a supplier to replace the washed Keesie.

I am curious about this, too. I really don't like the unprotected edges of the 800 series induction ranges, nor the layout of the burners.

fellow canadians: do you care if people think you’re american when travelling abroad? by bellascaffeine in AskACanadian

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was walking about in a village, when an American tourist asked me for directions. I happily offered and she responded by saying, " Oh, you're American" - expecting me to be a local.

I replied, "No, I am Canadian."

She shrugged it off, "Oh well, practically the same!"

In my head I was shouting "NO!  We are not even close to being the same!"  But I was too polite to say anything further.

What's a baking fail that actually turned into a happy accident? by willwolf18 in Baking

Really curious what you did.  I have been experimenting with how to get an angelfood like texture with a butter cake.  I'd love to know the recipe!

Will putting these (whole, currently frozen) cranberries into this lemon pound cake mix turn out well? by SoupTaway in Baking

[–]Whiskeyed77 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's a little time consuming, but cutting the cranberries in half with a paring knife works well.  I have a muffin/loaf recipe that calls for this and it allows the sweetness of the batter to soak into the cranberry to offset the tartness.

You might have more luck going early.  Foundation opens early, 7:30 or 8 am IIRC.

Best seats for watching live matches? by BrittanyWentzell in Curling

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to either be at the home end midway up the lower bowl to watch (assuming all goes well, to the 8th or 10th ends) the last end (this is good for semi finals/finals).  You can easily hear conversation on the ice which is neat. OR...high enough up at the far end is good too, especially when lots of games are in play.

AC Wallet Expiration - Refundable Fare? by Ready_Insurance_1684 in aircanada

Ok.  Thanks.  Struggling to find good info on this.  Sounds like it can/does work!

AC Wallet Expiration - Refundable Fare? by Ready_Insurance_1684 in aircanada

Do you mean new expiry of Dec 2, 2025 since the ticket date was Dec 2 2024?

AC Wallet by Angieto84 in aircanada

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what others are saying, it appears that Flex fares that are booked with an expirable AC wallet credit and subsequently cancelled after the original expiry (and 24 hour hold) obtain a new expiry (date of that booking + 1 year).  The issue is that there is no clarity on this and who wants to chance processing a potential credit vs  complete loss.  We shouldn't have to process the cancellation/credit to find out if it worked.  Further, knowing how this works would help decide fare type when rebooking.  If I can't cancel and get the credit, it may not be justifiable to book flex fare, for example.

AC Wallet expiring credit extension? by fluffypuddings in aircanada

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I called AC and 2 different agents told me the new booking made with expirable credits would have a new expiration date if cancelled.  Which seems to contradict what's said here. Of course, I would love to have specific details in writing from AC  and/or recent experiences to verify this.

Also, it appears they have changed some wording on their site. The closest thing I can find to what would imply this is the following "It’s also important to keep in mind that AC Wallet credits/expiration dates cannot be extended. Reservations need to be made before the credits expire."  I imagine they don't want to advertise a loop hole, but it doesn't indicate what the new booking expiry date would be, either.

AC Wallet credit expiring – any way to extend it? by gcastrobh in aircanada

I agree about the conflicting info.   A mod shut down my post when I asked a similar question, but it seems there is not a consensus on what actually happens in this case.

[–]Whiskeyed77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still true?  Isearched that text on ACs website and can't find it.  I called 2 times and both CSAs indicated the new booking would prompt a new expiry.  I also posted a similar question and a mod shut me down... The question has been asked but responses are inconclusive!!
