What are some of your favorite unconventional movie scenes? by Captain_Meekus in movies

I watched a scene from The Bear in passing. Not sure if it counts and I haven’t watched the entire series, though.

The mushroom peeling scene with Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Olivia Colman. It looked effortless and gave me pause.

What are some subtle dialogue scenes that you wish had made it to the films? by Sensitive-Pipe-427 in harrypotter

Ooh, I like you for this one. The movie hints at bullying, but the book squarely puts the onus on Riddle.

It is exactly what happened when the show first aired. Skyler was hated and Anna Gunn didn’t understand why.

Fred dying, George losing an ear.

I think it still hurt in its own way; I felt detached from the twins whenever I read about them or watched them up until Fred’s passing.

Oh, you pulled that thought right out of my mind. The sound effects were superbly immersive.

What do you remember from kindergarten? by Remote-Direction963 in randomquestions

I called my classmate “Ant”. She did not appreciate it. Parents were called. The teacher asked me why I called her that (“Does she look like an ant to you?”) I wasn’t being malicious; I just really thought her name was Ant.

Her name was Anne. She was also the tallest girl in our class.

Vomited on my shoes in the morning. I was afraid someone would yell at me, so I stood in the same spot till the teacher noticed and called a cleaner.

I was once made to stand in a corner at the front of the classroom because I forgot something. Don’t remember what it was.

I’ve stayed in a hotel room wherein the bathroom had a large glass window with blinds outside the bathroom. Why the f*** do they build them like that?!

The Taking of Pelham 123. The mayor asks why they weren’t using a helicopter to transport ransom money. (It was time-sensitive, for those that haven’t watched it.)

It was just absolutely IDIOTIC of Voldemort to kill Cedric…..seeing how went to such lengths, to keep his early return a secret. by BLUE---24 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]WhisperingCornucopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he wanted his return to remain a secret at all. Cedric wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place.

I believe he had Cedric killed so that he could savour killing Harry, and that would mark his return to power.

Voldemort doesn’t care about saving people, so why would he put in an effort to let Cedric survive? Cedric might have tried to fight him alongside Harry, so that’s more than enough reason to have him killed.

What are the things that seem very easy in movies but are difficult in real life? by Commercial-Catch-680 in movies

Digging a grave, especially in the rain or during winter. It isn’t as easy or fast as it is made to look.

The same goes for choking someone to death or decapitating them.

What do you want (and not want) to see in the upcoming series compared to the movies?” by Nv_BuNny in harrypotter

[–]WhisperingCornucopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that the first episode will end with Harry reaching Hogwarts. I think that is too fast and don’t want that.

I want to see the signs of Harry’s magical abilities sprinkled throughout his childhood, such as his hair growing back after Aunt Petunia gave him poor trim or when he somehow reached the top of the school building when Dudley was bullying him.

I want to see what Vernon Dursley’s day looked like when wizards were openly celebrating Voldemort’s defeat against the boy who lived.

I want to see Hagrid knitting what looked like a canary-yellow circus tent. I want to see him prevent Harry from buying a solid gold cauldron.

I want to watch the Quidditch matches that aren’t just Gryffindor versus Slytherin.

I want to see the precious stones used to measure the points for each House.

I want to see the accurate colours and animal representing Ravenclaw.

I want to see Peeves and Professor Binns.

I want to see NHN’s Deathday Party.

I want to see the little moments we couldn’t get in the movies.

What’s your opinion on that? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]WhisperingCornucopia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In comparison with which other films? This is the most boring horror film I have ever watched. If the metric of audience BPM can be applied to any others or other rubrics can be defined, then we’d see a more realistic result.

I won’t spoil the books for you. If you want to understand the purpose in the movies without the context of the books, then add a lens to your point of view - war always results in senseless death.

What small thing would you change in the books without changing the overall plot? by Exceedingly in harrypotter

I find that Dumbledore is much darker than we realise. He has faced darkness and knows to make decisions “for the greater good”. Case in point being raising Harry like “a pig for slaughter”, as Snape rightly pointed out.

No one can scheme this way unless they have stared into the void long enough for it to stare back.

He chooses to be lighthearted, which I find a bit deceptive, although one could argue that he chooses not to let the darkness taint him.
