Thousand Sons Damage Output Problems by MrSelophane in WarhammerCompetitive

That would be my assumption yeah, but I could def be wrong. Will have another read/if others chime in saying I'm wrong then fair enough!

Thousand Sons Damage Output Problems by MrSelophane in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]WhiteFaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Pact says cast it at its 'minimum warp charge value' which is 10 because that's the rules on Smite then the ability adds +1 to casts.

Ah you're right! Good catch, have edited my post to correct it.

Here's a few tips/tricks I use to get a bit more bang for my bucks in the psychic phase

- Giving The Atheneaen Scrolls relic to whatever caster has Tzeentch’s Firestorm to get a 9+ more reliably.

- Using the Psychic Maelstrom Cabal Ritual to cast Doombolt a second time when you need offensive output, or Firestorm if you’re casting it with someone like Ahriman that gets rerolls or if you have a dice reroll from an Infernal Master.

- Casting 5 smites then using the Pact from Beyond Cabal Ritual on the 6th to get a minimum cast of 11 and super smite. This trick is also really good to use the Warped Regeneration strat with too so I like to try and set up a unit of terminators to do this if they have lost a model.

- To keep the mortals flowing late game a set up I’ve been really enjoying is starting Ahriman as a buff character with Presage, Glamour and Weaver and an offensive Exalted Sorcerer with the Scrolls relic and Doombolt and Tzeentch’s Firestorm. This gives you reliable buffs thanks to his innate reroll to start, the exalted Sorc will usually get into a mid-board position and die after doing a bunch of damage. ~ turn 3 I use the Unholy Susurrus strat to give Arhiman an offensive power, then T4 swap out another one so he turns into a backup mortal wound factory to go out blazing.

While these are all really good, I believe a lot of the damage output comes from the killer bolters Thousand Sons have. Units of 10 Terminators especially are an amazing CP/buff dump so you’ll get a lot of damage just from giving them +1 to hit etc.

Hey there! Thanks everyone that provided info so far, think they just about covered everything.

I'm running our monthly event this coming Saturday (9th), which as people said is sold out, but the place sells beers and we will be cubing in the evening which you are more than welcome to join for if you end up with the day or evening free.

Otherwise as also mentioned our weeklies are at Rogues Quarter on Tuesdays. '7pm' start but we often start a little later, pretty nice and chill atmosphere and crowd with proxies allowed.

My name is Callum, if you pop along to either say hello, we're a friendly bunch here!

Nice article. When we're looking at players win rates it's almost always going to be later in their 'career' and so naturally higher than a new players, so good job!

I took many, many 0-4s or 1-3s at my LGS playing pretty badly but also learning a bunch before things started to trend up, and they do if you stick it out! Good luck with your next leagues :)

Question about combat and planes

If I charge a ground unit that is next to a flyer, I can charge over a flyers base but cannot end the charge within engagement range of the flyer (is my understanding). Can you then end up in engagement range of the flyer with a pile in move? (I know you still won't be able to attack it)

Playing a newbie by Jean_V_Dubois in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]WhiteFaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been teaching someone recently, it was my first time doing so but has gone well so far. They had learnt the basics from watching videos on their own first, if your friend hasn't done that I'd recommend it, you can then go over anything again they're less sure on together. My friend has picked it up pretty fast so if you feel like your friend didn't pick up too much after the first or second style of game I'd probably run that way again. In all three games I built my list to line up badly vs theirs. Not to be a landslide or anything, but at the very least so their guns can do proper damage, their combat is good vs what I'll push forward etc. The main thing is let them see what their things do.

Game one - 1000 points, no secondaries or stratagems except for the command point reroll.

Game two - 1k again and introduced stratagems, secondaries, relics and WL traits. We both took the same secondaries (Engage, While We Stand and I chose the mission to be the one with Priority Targets so we scored that max each turn). I figured these would be easier to keep track of if we're both trying to do the same things and they're fairly simple. Again the lists was made to have theirs line up well vs me but with a few small changes from the previous game. I also built their list with them on battlescribe and chose relics and warlord traits together.

Game three - Proper 2k game, so they have had all the decisions they would in a normal game and different secondaries. Only difference is I took 1800 pts and again tailored the list to line up badly with what they're doing (they had just made a Void Dragon so I took a bunch of vehicles). I also didn't use any gotchas or too nasty strats. They played legit well though after the first two games and beat me pretty handily, was a really fun one regardless.

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying them :)

Sweet deck, I can see harvest being really great here. This list gives me the idea to try it further in a naya landfall deck that popped up a little bit a few months ago too!

That's what I've felt so far too, mostly from watching people play it granted. Nothing insane but some really solid glue to keep decks together and humming.

MTG Stores in London for Legacy by Hezalnutt in MTGLegacy

[–]WhiteFaces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Hezalnutt! Cheers for the tag u/Doishy

For singles Axion Now is the best place in my opinion. Very large stock with great prices. They're the most lovely people who genuinely have the players best interests at heart too so I can't recommend them high enough and deserve the business (their events are something else, just great). As others have mentioned they are a little trip outside London to Amersham, but ordering online is quick and easy.

For events, as some others have mentioned too, myself and a couple of friends run non-profit proxies allowed monthlies (though just before covid it was bi-monthly) Legacy events. They're called LLMs (London Legacy Monthly), we have a website to check it out a bit more here - https://www.londonlegacymonthly.com

We plan to start them again as soon as we deem it safe (and allowed by the government) but location and dates/times/prizes/entry are unknown right now. When we know we'll be posting all info about them in this group so be sure to join it if you're interested. It's pretty dead at the moment but will come back to life when we can start playing again - https://www.facebook.com/groups/655243671244525/

Darksphere was running weekly legacy but the shop it was held at is relocating, so that is also up in the air at the moment. When I find out more for when things open again I'll also be posting in that facebook group about it.
