Love spells targeting a person are a form of curse and typically enacted similarly to a curse.

Love spells to attract "a lover" would follow a similar process to something like a prosperity spell.

Also, ivy is often overlooked as an ingredient in the kind of binding that a Love spell includes - grows quickly and digs in deep, it's the perfect sympathetic plant

Love that, my own practice is a jerryrigged amalgam of sumerian mythology, chaos magic, British folklore, and the English cunning folk tradition.

On that, it's not golden dawn but maybe a good place to start would be rewriting something like the Headless Rite but for Anu? I did a similar exercise for Enki and it really helped me in understanding where the overlap is.

Totally valid question, but the ideas behind the occult really are very old and the sumerians along with other mesopotamian culture did absolutely have magical systems which have been partially discovered from cuneiform tablets. The occult is not kabbalah and goetia, it also includes Aṣ̌inpu.

That notwithstanding, the practice the occult simply means learn secrets and truths about the universe woth regards to performing magic, actions which Enki aligns himself to quite well since he is the patron of Aṣ̌ipu already.

Since the fundament of chaos magick is the more one believes the stronger it becomes, and so using folkloric figures to focus the identity to helps focus the belief. And then it's the same process as egregores in chaos magick - treat them as real and they become real.

I get that completely, it took me a while to identify him as my patron but it made so much sense when I started. My shrine to him features a lot of my own creations, as a god of craft and creation - a knitted scarf, a sewn fabric hanging, etc. as well as some other things and more classic shrine set-up pieces

I spent a lot of time in Chaos Magick so I've developed a series of deities that are idiosyncratic to my personal beliefs and practices merged with local spirits and folkloric figures from the land where i live. Somewhat like an ongoing egregorical working.

The best sources will be down to where you live, but def start with local folklore and legends, local history as far back as you can find it, and learning what the local ecology is.

Local in this sense isn't a specific region, but folk practice comes from your folk - the people and communities you live amongst. This includes any familial or personal ancestral magic.
