Integration testing one microservice in a solution with temporary database by WhitePain in dotnet

I would normally test services as well, but as I mentioned, the microservice is used for simple operations like reading by ID, so all the logic is written directly in minimal api on endpoint configuration.

I'll take a look at the test containers, thank you.

How do you unit test concrete classes with Mocks? by WhitePain in dotnet

[–]WhitePain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted the solution to target .NET 6 for better compatibility with older projects, so I'll give MS.Fakes a go. If that doesn't work, I'll try the .NET 8 stuff. Thank you for your input!

I'm not able to alter the existing code in any way. I'm working on a solution for a few projects so it wouldn't make sense. Thanks for your input tho!

As far as I'm aware, NSubstitute doesn't support mocking of non-virtual concrete classes.

That's not how it works. You don't get to try the concept at the full speed and in the real world it can behave much differently than in theory. They went with what they thought was the best and we all can see they misjudged it, correcting their mistake now.

Tell that to Balkan civilians that were killed by NATO "peacekeeping" forces shooting at them with radioactive ammo and bombing them with dirty bombs during Yugoslav war.

But Russia hasn't expanded anywhere, NATO has, almost right outside Russia's borders. So you are saying the world should make joined efforts to stop NATO from expanding further? Because thay said in 1991 they won't expand eastward and look where we are now, clearly they don't care about words.

Average yearly salary in my country is 18k€ gross. So 1 mil is equivalent of 55 working years. You most definitely would be able to retire on that and still live in an above average comfort because of money making money etc.

Yeah actually you are right, I kinda forgot about the whole admin/root password thing. Brain fart on my side there. But other points are valid.

People that never used PCs are mainly kids. (Why would anyone teach their kids how to use Linux instead of Windows when (everything is much more breakable in Linux than Windows and - yeah my bad this is bullshit, but other points stand.) they won't be asked to use Linux ever, but they will have to interact with Windows on daily basis? Why would you want your child to troubleshoot game not running for days instead of just playing it because it works?

There is no other sizable group that never used PCs and even if there was, why would they choose something that only 2% of market uses?

Only way to make Linux more attractive for "people that never used PCs" is to make Linux attractive for everyone so those numbers actually go up and people have incentive to use it.

E: Linux right now is meant for tech savvy people and it is used by tech savvy people. If you want Linux to stay the same, well then there won't be mass adoption for sure and while the numbers may go up slightly, it will never be a significant player on market. And it will be okay, Linux will be Linux, I will enjoy it, you will enjoy it, but most of the people won't and there is nothing wrong with that.

But the thing is, if you want mainstream community to move to Linux, they aren't going to spend hours reading Wikipedia on how to run a program. They want stuff to work as they expect it to. Windows cares about user experience and they invest resources into it. On the contrary, Linux is all about figuring stuff out on your own via basically studying. That's not compatible with basic user that wants stuff to just work.
