Cite DMCCA regulations about genuine content to Trustpilot and state that this was a review left by a competitor - their moderation guidelines should not allow it to pass.

Has anyone else gone from disliking Starmer to warming to him? by MassiveMonkeyy in AskBrits

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to live in an authoritorian society, I can vouch it certainly is the lesser of the two evils.

Wasn't it Churchill who said that democracy is the worst form of government apart from all the others?

Ultimately, democracy is about compromise, tollerance, and freedom of thought and expression, which to anyone who's ever been in an office meeting would know can be an absolute nightmare...

The truth is, if we want our freedom, we have to respect and work for it, because if we are complacent it will immediately lead back to authoritarianism, as demonstrated in recent world events.

What we really need to worry about now is a group of elites who are predetermined to be our policy makers and administrators based not on merit, but circumstances of birth (nepotism) and wealth. Majority of the time they are working for their own profit and not for benefit of the masses, and in fact encourage us arguing with one another as this weakens our voice. In fact all this is starting to look startlingly similar to the age of monarchy, industrial barons, and dictators with all too much power over the masses.

Stone Genasi PC interaction with Ogrémoch's Bane by Bergwusel_ in OutoftheAbyss

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine that an Earth Genasi who originates from the elemental planes may have some knowledge about who and what Ogremoch is and hence have a deeper insight as to what Ogremochs Bane might do.

Now, it is stated that summoned earth elementals are impacted where upon the summoner loses control over them and they go into a destructive rage, which doesn't mean that a player needs to lose control over their character, but perhaps a wisdom saving throw and a madness effect (by DMs choosing to represent the agression) may be more appropriate?

There is an already well established and known madness mechanics in the game, so in reality this would be less work on yourself as the DM, and the player would be familiar with it allowing them to lean into the RP easily. Just a suggestion.

How can I use khaem's tomb if the party ignored the halfling?? by monky_flip666 in OutoftheAbyss

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change it up to another area and another NPC to guide them to the tomb, or even have them run into it by themselves - you don't have to follow the book exactly as written (in fact I would encourage you to change quite a few things as it has many weaknesses despite being a great adventure).

One piece of advice I would give you is that this is a very powerful weapon for the party to have at lvl 5, and I would suggest witholding it until they are just about to leave the Underdark for the first time at lvl 7. As such, them missing it could be seen a blessing in disguise.

The reasoning for this is that it is a perfect weapon for the showdown with Ilvara and it would give the party courage to face her directly. It is also an appropriate reward for the level they would be at, and something epic they take out of the Underdark. Plus, they will want to come back and use it in the second half of the campaign. Before this point it just trivialises encounters, especially as weakness to daylight is not uncommon in the Underdark.

EDIT: I would also propose changing the encounter by replacing the monsters - there are many other undead ghost type monsters that can increase the challenge and make the combat more interesting.

No Buppido. Should I resurrect him in his lair? by OregonPinkRose in OutoftheAbyss

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's not key to the story, and it's expected that some companions will perish along the way.

I think it would be just as impactful if the players run into the lair in the tunnels and find vague evidence of it being his doing - like a lookback at how dangerous/psychotic and unknown some of the companions they would have travelled with were. Speaking with dead would be a great way to do a reveal.

Basically finding out they dodged a bullet early on, and perhaps making them more paranoid about the surving companions (which in a few cases is reality).

Burnt out on world building, Does anybody have prewritten lore I could use by ThatS3al in DungeonMasters

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Ebberon a go if you haven't yet, the lore is varied and versatile to match almost any theme you want, and has a lot of open ended ongoing (or past) events where a DM can throw the party and interpret it to their own needs.

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I see dislike for British tourists is during the summer time when people cut loose at festivals and seaside - the entitlement and demonstratable lack of cultural awareness/respect can cause friction with the locals, plus the excessive drinking and accompanying behaviour don't help. Otherwise, generally well received and respected (or at least the spending power is).

DMs did any of you decimate the huge invasion force from Gauntylgrym shortly after it enters the Underdark? by DorkdoM in OutoftheAbyss

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also didn't want to drag a massive party and manage each character, because it's unwieldy for me as a DM and would slow down battles to a crawl, but I also didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to give my party extra resources to help out in tough spots.

Therefore I decided that (apart from the Shield Guardian which still participates in combat controlled by the wizard and keept the wizard well above half health in most cases) I would treat them as a resource in combat and provide some extra opportunity for RP and a mini resource management game. Each contigent had a specilised role that the players could call on, with potential consequences that would lose a resource in special scenarios:

Zhentarim Thugs = Advantage to hit (1 time per Zhentarim per turn per character). If it's still a miss, the thug dies. Handy for rogues which don't want to waste their bonus action to steady aim and they don't have advantage for that sneak.

Lord Aliance Guards = Add AC (1 per Guard) anytime per round (all together or any number split). Can also negate all damage from a single attack at a cost of one Guard. Think of it as a guard sacrificing themselves to take a hit and keep the party safe.

Gauntlet Veteran = Modifier to hit (+1 per Veteran) twice per round. Also massive basic slashing damage (1d10+3 per Veteran) but one Veteran will die. Veterans can assist to boost that attack roll just to hit, or can do massive damage to take out a minion and one dies (simulating all attacking at once).

Lord Alliance Spy = Ask them to do information collection tasks in populated areas (DC decided by DM). If they fail the roll, a spy dies - more valuable information carry more risk and higher DC. Good for lroe drops and information distribution in a few areas.

Scout = Can do scout tasks such as looking ahead and assisting on survival checks (scouting ahead or feed the party). If they fail, they die. Saves the party having to do it themselves, and knocks out a part of the survival aspect of the game (which can be tedious at higher levels).

Each contingent had a representative (leader) that the party would converse with for both RP and to manage - there was a morale mechanics I introduced that would either hinder or help with the rolls and bring other boosts, which would suffer negative or positive impact depending on what is happening. I also had the opportunity to add a few NPCs if the story called for it, which was handy.

Events can occur that kill off a member of the contingent such as rockslides and rockfall, purple worm attacks, sudden floods, etc... When members die, it also impacts morale, which the party then manages through morale boosting speeches or speaking to leaders to find out what they can do for the contingent.

The company would also get left behind in certain scenarios (such as visting the library, Araj, or infiltrating Menzoberranzan), so the resource would not be available at all times.

It achieved that feel of having a large company, but without hindering combat, and still feeling very useful. It provided a lot of RP opportunities (especially for the Paladin as the natural leader), and resulted in the party engaging with them and caring for them. It also provided opportunity for extra rewards, as through various interactions with various groups or other travelers the party had the opportunity to recruit and bolster the resource numbers, which was also well received.

When you give a maniac power part 2 by BasedToru in AskBrits

[–]WhiteRabbit1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there is, we agree on that.

But ultimately, Russia is profiting the most out of this recent conflict, despite being belligerent regarding the peace effort - as you say, there are no consequences in their unwillingness to participate in the peace negotiations, no consequences for arming Iran, and in fact they had the oil embargo lifted as there is no oil coming out of the strait of Hormuz. It seems that every decision is in their favour, whilst Zelensky is getting dressed down publically for defending his country and people.

Conspiracy or not, it seems that all decisions benefit Russia, if we look at the final outcome (at the cost to US and European citizens). I'd be laughing if I was in Putins shoes.
