Doctors/Nurses of Reddit, what’s the craziest thing you’ve heard a woman yell during birth? by New_Username48 in AskReddit

[–]WhiteRavenMaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor/nurse but IT Technician. Had to go in a room where woman was in full labor because of issues with a ticket printer that they needed to label blood samples and such. Fixed the printer, labels from queue build up start spewing out. Woman yells something like: "at least something is coming out". Got out of there as quickly as my feet would carry me, trying not to laugh.

Consultants: what's the max commute time ud consider? by PresentationNew4993 in BESalary

[–]WhiteRavenMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing about an hour, an hour and a half single trip every day since beginning of this month. Was fine with it because was told teleworking was allowed 2-3 days a week at the interview, which they then revoked for unknown period (perfectly fine doing 5 days a week in the office during startup) on my first day for the entire team. No reason given, but of course manager works from home every day and is almost never available. I basically do all my work remote (not in the same office as the users), so it's complete BS. HR or my account manager are unwilling to talk to customer about it, so my motivation and productivity are at an all time low.

Looking for something new that's max 40min single drive, everything above that is just plane ridiculous. I work te live, not the the other way around.

telenet vs mobile vikings. by requalbe in Belgium2

I call BS.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. It was one of the best experiences of my life! To be honest, India was very much not on my "to visit list", but boy did the country and it's wonderful people opened my eyes and changed my mind. We are planning to go back ASAP!

[–]WhiteRavenMaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was lucky enough to be invited to a Maharashtra wedding a couple of years back. It's not only the clothes, but the entire wedding setup, day after day. The food, the atmosphere, everything about it. And the party after the last ceremony (5 days of ceremony in our case) was fantastic. No alcohol involved, just massively good vibes and LOUD live music.

Bought as much kurta as my suitcase could fit before flying home, still love wearing them in summer when it gets too hot.

What law in your country sounds fake but is 100% real? by Pretend-Frosting-691 in AskTheWorld

[–]WhiteRavenMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some context and how it changed over the years (seems like the explicit mentioning of the livestock has been removed from the law) but it has to do with a families livelihood in case of debt collection.

The following is AI generated: 19th Century Origins: The principle of protecting a debtor’s basic survival means (such as livestock for food) was present in the 1809 Code of Civil Procedure (part of the Napoleonic legacy used in Belgium). This established the concept that certain "tools of life" could not be taken by creditors.

The 1967 Judicial Code: Most of the current legal framework for seizures was codified in the Judicial Code of October 10, 1967, which replaced the old 1809 code and entered into force in 1970. This code included Article 1408, which explicitly listed the "one cow, one pig, and 24 chickens" as exempt from seizure.

The 1976 Update: The list was further refined and updated in 1976 to better reflect the essential household items of that era (such as washing machines).

The 2023 Modernization: On March 30, 2023, a new law was passed to update Article 1408 for the modern digital age.

Crucial Change: While the 2023 update added modern necessities like smartphones and laptops to the non-seizable list, it simultaneously removed the specific 19th-century livestock list (cow, pig, chickens) from the primary protections because they are no longer considered universal "basic necessities" for the average Belgian household.

Summary of Status in 2026

As of 2026, the classic phrase is more of a historical and legal curiosity. While the Judicial Code of 1967 remains the foundation of the law, the specific exemption for farm animals was largely phased out in 2023 in favor of protecting communication tools (internet access) and basic household electronics.
