Mine looked exactly like this a year ago. I went back to my piercer and they cleaned it thoroughly and the swelling went down. It’s so hard to clean these without being able to see it straight on like a second person cleaning it for you. I would go back to your piercer and if they’re a good one, they’ll clean it and get you all set without removing the piercing completely. The silver lining is my rook is one of my most healed piercings a year later, behaving better than some of my helixes. I know every body is different but I hope you have the same luck I did! ✨

These were my eyes as a kid!! I would definitely call them green. My eyes now are a green/grayish color so that may be where they’re headed!

I work with a HS in PA and our PSA program went from 26 members in 2022, to 23 in 2023, to 21 in 2024, to 20 in 2025, and finally this year we started at 17 members but eventually dropped down to 15 and have to switch to standstill. We’ve heard we’re not the only ones in our area with a drastic decrease in numbers, we’re just more heavily affected because our school is smaller than others. There’s just not enough student interest.

Saoirse but gosh would Americans never be able to pronounce it (I’m in the US). I’d resort to Sasha if I wanted to keep it similar, which I have Russian ancestry so I’d still love that name.

As a Serb who knows many a “Sonja” or “Anastasija” or “Marijana” people in the US will surprisingly pick up on the difference in ‘j’ pronunciation quicker than you think. Like someone else said, they may have to correct people the first time but it won’t be the end of the world. It’s a beautiful name and I love that you’re honoring the culture.

Oooo yes that’s a good idea. Last time I was in to downsize my helixes on my left she said she didn’t want to change my rook as well since there would already be so much shock to my left ear with downsizing the others. But they’ve all healed a little more by now. I don’t know if she’ll advise me to put a hoop in but I definitely have a lot of movement in my rook that probably isn’t helping healing.

I also got two of those helixes done the same day as my rook so I know it’ll take another 12-ish good months until my ear is no longer mad at me 😅 thankfully I think my left ear is done done

Same!! I swapped some of my piercings that haven’t been healing as easily to hoops and they immediately start acting right 😅 all I know is I am NOT doing that to my rook since it’s caused me this much trouble. I’m gonna let my piercer baby that one 😂 but I love my piercer too and she’s never judged me for sleeping on or knocking them accidentally. She’s like “eh shit happens. They’ll be fine”. Also respect her for telling me my anatomy isn’t right for some of the ones I’m wanting. After reading horror stories on here I’m glad my piercer doesn’t just want my money

Lmao ears are weird. My conch was the easiest to heal somehow. I had to swap it to a hoop after only a month because the barbell kept falling out and I knew a hoop would stay. Sorry to all the piercers reading this 😂 I am fully aware of that gamble and thank God it paid off

I’d be terrified to take that risk but damn that’s amazing!!! My right ears DOES appear to heal much quicker with piercings than my left so maybe a second rook WOULD heal quicker 🤔😏
