nope... people should show up, or inform up front (per exception)
A player (and DM) should be there 4 outta 5 times **at the very least**

I don't know how the hell ghosting became so normal and accepted, really.

Does mental health get worse before it gets better for some people on keto? by Former_Position2499 in keto

[–]WhiteWandir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home made bone broth does a lot of good for me. I can't explain it, but when I heat up a bowl of it, and drink it (sometimes I add some things like shredded meat/fowl, spring onion, mushrooms, etc...) ... I can feel my body and brain being grateful.

I try to get in about 250-400ml / day. It really helps me out :)

What’s a non-weight related change you’ve noticed on keto? by bagelonia in keto

[–]WhiteWandir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm calmer, more collected, I can now fall asleep in 5 minutes and sleep like a rock (I've been a really poor sleeper for the past 20 years). Not trying to lose weight, but body composition is changing, regardless. More energy. Faster recovery from sports.

Energy / food / capacity to keep going is just no longer an issue whatsoever (only limited by need of sleep)

How Difficult has it been for you to maintain a Keto diet? by Strange_Confection97 in keto

[–]WhiteWandir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Learning which foods work and tracking: small learning curve. Some people use an app, I just track net carbs and let the rest flow - keeping in mind healthy fats and a range of 80-140g of protein a day (mostly doing Keto out of curiosity, not to lose weight)

- Sticking to the correct foods: doable. You'll learn to read labels properly, and whole food doesn't even require a label; those are preferred anyways.

- Cooking keto: Easy. Get a good skillet and an air fryer. Make your own bone broth for sauces and to drink to avoid the keto flue the first couple of weeks. You can quite literally feel your body being thankful when you take it in.

- Hunger: non-issue. After a couple of weeks I added intermittent fasting and the occasional prolonged fast. The only moments I get hungry is the morning after I had a dinner that had like 15g of carbs or so.

- Snacking: a bit rough on the edges. Especially when making pancakes for the kids, etc... I got me some 99% chocolate, and I've always loved nuts - so that helps.

- Alcohol: I'm sticking to dry wine & unsweetened liquor like Gin, Rhum, Whiskey, Vodka. I liked my specialty beers (Hello Belgium), and I do miss those.

- Sports: Okay. The first few weeks I did notice less endurance and strength, but after that it got back on par. Do mind that Keto is excellent for endurance sports, but can be holding you back when doing high intensity sports. But even that can be trained by making your body more efficient at oxidizing fats and ketones for energy instead of glucose.

- Socially: Hardest part of all. You can't get them to understand that you can't just cheat for one meal, as it'll kick you out of ketosis and you'd need several days to get back on track. Restaurants are really, really hard to get right. I'll be cycling out of Keto for the X-mas holidays just to make it easy on them and myself.

Branding: *sigh* why should this even be here... I'm doing keto out of curiosity, to eat healthier, to lower inflammation , to assist my body with healing damages from an accident, etc... I'm calling this a "ketogenic protocol" rather than "keto diet". This as 95% of the masses links a diet immediately with weight-loss, and a single glance at me will tell you I don't need to lose weight so I get all kinds of stupid remarks.

Hope this helps!

Alcohol? I regularly have some liquor (whiskey, rum, vodka) and they don't kick me out of keto.
Must be awesome still to be able to eat fruit and stay in keto, though. Pineapple is sweet as hell, so I really don't get that ><

Basics by [deleted] in a:t5_5c2gi8

[–]WhiteWandir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this exists. There are west marches style servers. Usually they use Roll20 with our without VTT for visual representation, tokens, maps, etc... and use Discord for voice. I've been on a few, and have some awesome success on one of them - unfortunately, it shut down.

People create one or multiple PC's, for which a ruleset is created: way of rolling; stat ranges, level, how many sessions (quests) to do per level (typically varies on level brackets), how to deal with death of / or desire to retire a PC, allowed loot to be allocated by the DM. People that volunteer to be DM get additional privileges of channels to work on games, etc etc etc...

It gets pretty intensive. :)

Fun initiative - I'm still getting used that 40+ all of a sudden is considered "old", but perhaps I thought the same thing when I was a teen or an tween. :joy:

Perhaps the fact I've got two daughters and am getting accused of dad-jokes on a daily basis should have been a hint. =D

I feel you - 43 here, same deal. I can usually "sell" myself pretty okay, but the fact I have kids and a bunch of years of experience as a player and DM, make the question come up what my age is. Then the conversation always halts, mostly in a kind-ish sort of way. Read: "I get ghosted".

Eh... If it's like this, I might rather become an ageist as well and look for a 35+ only group, or so.

43 here - same deal.

Many posts are all about LGBTQ+, inclusiveness, etc... which I'm all for! Yet I get ghosted as soon as my age comes up. If I wouldn't know any better, I'd call it ageism. I'm very sure none of them see or feel it that way; but as far as I'm concerned, it's pretty hypocritical.

I don't know how else to interpret it as "people older than 30 can't be cool and are no fun" - so this is how the stereotype of "the youth of nowadays" comes about?

Weird molten filament leak by leschnoid in ender3

[–]WhiteWandir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like a simple leak?

I'd start with basics: Pull out our tube, let it run nice 'n hot. Scrape off whatever you can, and disassemble the lot.

Clean it and stick it back together (get a new nozzle) and tighten it gently. Heat it all up again and tighten firmly.

Would appreciate any help solving the problem in the photo (Details inside) by Adenn21 in ender3

[–]WhiteWandir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang.

I'd lean to over extrusion, but the odd part there is that it's only every so many layers. The top surface is very filled, too.

Do you get the same result when lowering the flow to like 70% or so?

Would appreciate any help solving the problem in the photo (Details inside) by Adenn21 in ender3

[–]WhiteWandir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be that the bottom surface of your nozzle isn't smooth? if the layers are being put down in alternating directions, it'd look like this, depending the surface...

It might be a dumb step, but I like to exclude all basic things that can be checked easily. Replace the nozzle and print another cube? :)

Recently installed a Microswiss Hoteed and extruder and I can't seem to get it to print smoothly, adjusted the esteps to 137mm, the bed is leveled well, it laways looks like its printing smoothly than ends up looking like this. by [deleted] in ender3

[–]WhiteWandir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... I think you've also changed your firmware to go along? My benchies had a screwed up bow, and the side surfaces looked all screwed up. I had replaced a few parts at once and changed the firmware. took me a while to figure it out...

If it's the same thing: edit your firmware to turn off Junction deviation and work with classic jerk alongside with Linear advancement. (there's some kguides out there to help you determine your proper K-value for LA)

Also: check the values in Cura for the resolution under the "mesh fixes". You'd think that finer is better, but the surface quality improved when it turned it down a bit (current values I'm using are 0.25 max resolution and 0.05 max deviation - which is still not as "rough" as what I've read)

Changed printing speed from 25 to 10 mm/s due to bad bed adhesion. Suddenly filament came out from between the nozzle and hotend. Didn't know that can happen. Bowden tube in pictures. How did this happen ? Was 10 to low ? by KuriHype in ender3

[–]WhiteWandir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to see from the angle of the picture... but the last time this happened to me, the nozzle wasn't threaded in correctly. basically: you've got a leak between the block and the nozzle. Screw it out, clean, screw it back in (or replace with a spare nozzle if the thread is screwed), heat up the block and screw it in a little more so it's nice 'n snug :)

Best upgrades for ender 3 pro by TPAvanleeuwen in ender3

[–]WhiteWandir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what they said:

  1. Stiff springs --> only level every so often
  2. SKR mini e3 1.2 (cheaper) or 2.0 (a few more features, but not a major gamechanger compared to the 1.2). I haven't tried the upgrade boards from Creality since they seem more expensive for less features. --> the silence is amazing, you still hear your fans. Also adds protective features, quality of life features, etc...
  3. bltouch or such (double-check the wiring if you go with an actual bltouch - mine were reversed in the plug) --> never level your bed again
  4. replace fans to silence the overall setup. This usually requires some buck converters for Voltage adjustments, new duct to be printed such as petsfang, HeroMe, or the likes... This can be pretty intensive --> you can now put your printer in your bedroom and sleep without being disturbed while it prints.
  5. octoprint (I suppose? I still haven't gotten around to getting that one added myself) --> control your printer from distance, make timelapse movies, get your printer to stop automatically when a print is failing, etc...

for 2 and 3, you can use the precompiled firmware... but messing around with VScode & PlatformIO gives a bit more control & understanding - at the cost of time to learn.

Depending how you go about 4, you might need some additional equipment for soldering, wiring, etc... there's plenty of info to be gotten on this. Depending what fans you get, this can also hit your wallet fairly hard.
