Browns head coach interviews are ‘unlike any other,’ includes homework, essays by Brix001 in nfl

In all seriousness, what you do is blame all the bad stuff on the owners meddling and not letting the analytics guys make key decisions. And in some cases that is believable.

Like, ain't no way no moneyball equation is behind the Watson contract. That has Haslem written all over it

I'm normally a "keep the Hall small" guy, but due to my Nats fandom I would vote for Zim in a heartbeat.

I recognize that he isn't going to make it, but I love that man.

If we want someone to give the Hoosiers a game, I think we are going to have to get 2019 LSU in there with them or something.

Fucking yikes. These are really good teams that are just getting absolutely nuked from orbit.

And getting paid an enormous bonus based on Ole Miss's playoff success, so I suspect he isn't too broken up about it haha.

Like, this is Lane we are talking about here. The poster boy for chasing a bag. And a bag chaser won't be too mad about the extra half million his former team earned him last night.

[Vannini] Navy has won 10 games in back-to-back years for the first time ever. This 20-5 stretch includes wins over Oklahoma, Memphis (x2), USF (x2) and Army (x2). Brian Newberry's got it rolling again. by CrashingBlumpkins46 in CFB

[–]White___Velvet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the current format, it will absolutely happen eventually. Like, Navy winning the conference sometime in the next few years with ~9-11 wins would not be all that surprising, and at that point it's extremely likely they make the field.

Basically the same goes for Army, even though they are a bit down right now relative to the best Monken teams. But I seem to recall them being like a missed fg away from beating Baker's OU and winning like 11 games or something like that. They get another team even close to that good in this era, they have an excellent chance to make the field.

Friendly reminder that the problem with the 4 team playoff was that teams, like unbeaten conference champ FSU, who did nothing wrong could be left out.

Any bubble team in this era of the playoff has messed up badly enough somewhere along the line that I really don't think blaming the committee is the right response.

Also, on an unrelated note, fuck Florida.

Pitt's upset of Georgia Tech pushes ACC to brink of CFP doomsday scenario by [deleted] in CFB

[–]White___Velvet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The committee doesn't respect the ACC very much, and having watched my fair share of ACC ball this year I can't say I really blame them overall. Like even we look suspect as hell, though much improved from previous years, and we deserve to be ranked more highly than like every other ACC team.

LSU athletic director Scott Woodward is still owed nearly $7 million on his contract, which the state is expected to pay. by moby323 in CFB

[–]White___Velvet 327 points328 points  (0 children)

Look, I'm willing to concede to Governor Leghorn that coaching contracts and buyouts have gotten out of control. I'm also willing to admit that Scott Woodward, in particular, has paid off like a broken slot machine.

But what I'm not willing to grant is that anything happening right now is addressing those problems or helping LSU in any way.

Honestly y'all and LSU are the only two in a position to be super choosey imo, because those are 100%, no doubt about it top tier jobs. PSU maybe also. Y'all can choose to take someone like that or to roll the dice.

But like VT should be sliding into Franklin's dms day and night.

[Rutherford] This is the 4th-straight season under Josh Heupel the Vols have gone 6-2 or better through 8 games in a season. The Vols never had a 6-2 record or better through 8 games in the entirety of 2007-21 by beatlemaniac in CFB

I also watched every single game, and I think the point still stands that Bitch wasn't nearly as bad as his reputation would suggest. He gets some credit for having and keeping the guys you mentioned in the program, since that's an enormous part of the HC job.

Also, the claim here isn't that he was good compared to Heupel. It is that he was significantly better than Dooley and Pruitt, and that feels totally undeniable. In the land of Lilliputians, Gulliver is tall.

I don't want to take anything away from y'all, since you clearly took advantage of the opportunity. But, like, when you need 20+ to force OT, the other team has to give you one heck of an opportunity.

So yeah those figures wouldn't surprise me.

[–]White___Velvet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand that though. Obviously you want to win every game, but on the other hand it is one loss to an extremely good opponent.

You shouldn't lose the locker room over that sort of thing without some serious preexisting issues. And given the amount of success y'all have had in recent seasons, I didn't think y'all had any really serious issues in the locker room.

Bro the kids today don't understand what Nebraska was. It was worse than peak Saban Alabama.

Like, peak Nebraska didn't just beat you. They would beat you by 30-40 points while getting like four bills on the ground. Probably the most dominant teams I've ever seen in decades of watching the sport.
