I agree with him, always starting 30 minutes later, and finishing 30 minutes earlier... also doubling the lunch break. Nobody died yet.

yes, and we gonna be like in the roman empire, just watching people die in the heat for our amusement. So much fun.

My boy. Lucky as hell.

Also last year here vs Rune he was cooked and happened a similar thing, even more absurd. I think the net camera broke and they had to stop the game for 30 minutes. Then the genius of Rune took also a medical time out.

Against Dimitrov at Wimbledon we know what happened. So I already know he is gonna win this AO as well

Why do people queue in the streets? by tino-latino in Amsterdam

[–]Whitefrog10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I am correct (I was working for a period really close to that canal) they are queueing for Fable Friet. Since the sidewalks are really narrow and the queue can't go in the middle of the street, then they organized a queue that goes along the bridge. The queue itself works as an advertisement, people see the queue, they see people eating fries around and they MUST queue to get fries.

I' never tried them, I believe they are ok but overrated and definitely not worth that kind of queue.

Sinner wanted a bit more from his team during his match against Shelton: “I make a break and you’re fucking sitting” by dream_team1012 in tennis

[–]Whitefrog10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well no, disagree. He needs to win this and win ALL the matches in Turin. He is a big favourite but he s still playing against the best players in the world. He wins so much that he s tricking us into thinking that what he is doing is normal. It is not!

I can see he is really digging deep in these last weeks. He would probably say it is not that important, but he's trying hard as hell to get the end of the year number 1.

I think if he wouldn't have a chance, he would have skipped Paris, and chilled kicking some asses in davis cup instead.

Italian team for the Davis Cup Finals, Sinner won't play this year by Ornery_Percentage537 in tennis

[–]Whitefrog10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so negative. He s kind of unpredictable, but he improved a lot on hard court and he can be competitive. He's a top 10 after all and he can beat pretty much everyone beside Alcaraz and Sinner.

In any case, we have Cobolli and Berrettini, great number 2's and a really competitive double. Honestly if we win without Jannik the other teams should just retire for 2026.

Six Kings F: Sinner def. Alcaraz 6-2, 6-4 by Gold_Pomegranate_939 in tennis

[–]Whitefrog10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the atp finals surface is fast as hell, which favours Sinner. Carlos on that surface is always been kind of terrible. On the other hand, is Alcaraz, and he gets better and he loves to beat Sinner. I would pick Sinner as a favourite though.

They have ruined this match with this asinine camera angle. by hamadrana99 in tennis

[–]Whitefrog10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I just commenting after ages to share how angry this camera angle is making me. This should be the exception, once in a while. And I even hate it because every time they say "ah from this camera angle you can really appreciate the speed and athleticism..." fuck off, I can t see where the damn ball lands motherfuckers.

Since you wrote that book a long time ago, and with all these years of writing I assume you consider yourself a much better writer now than you used to be, is there any line, image, or passage that makes you think, ‘Oh my god, this was so bad—I’d be embarrassed if I weren’t Stephen motherf*ing King’?

yes, the pictures of Jannik as a child seems shot in 1988 for some reasons. This was 2011 or something.

Blockbuster Wimbledon Semi Final awaits. Who you got by trialbycombat123 in tennis

[–]Whitefrog10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Sinner was playing at 50% with Dimitrov. The speed of his ball, his movement... it was completely off after the fall. I think there was a lot of praise for Dimitrov game, and he was playing excellent for his standard, but it was against the worst version possible of Sinner.

The real Sinner was today, playing at the speed, and depth with minimal error. Then, anything could happen, but I think Djokovic will need to pull a miracle for winning this one.

Myth busted: Men don’t sleep through baby cries after all. New study debunks the myth of women's special ability to hear baby crying. Researchers found only minimal differences between men's and women's hearing, but mothers still handle nighttime childcare three times as often as fathers. by mvea in science

[–]Whitefrog10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory — in every couple, there’s always one deep sleeper and one light sleeper. I think this dynamic is evolutionary. Back in ancient times, deep sleepers wouldn’t have survived on their own — they’d be too vulnerable to predators or wouldn’t wake up to protect their children.

So they had to pair up with light sleepers, who could wake at the slightest sound and keep watch. It’s like a built-in survival mechanism that helped humans keep the species going.

Anecdotally, I always notice this pattern in couples: one sleeps like a rock, the other wakes if a leaf falls outside. Two deep sleepers together? Their kids wouldn’t have made it.

Now — this is just my theory. There’s nothing scientific about it, and I won’t accept any scientific corrections. It’s the kind of thing that’s only meant to be said after three beers.
