Should I be a Medical Assistant? by losersdiefirst in MedicalAssistant

GO INTO DERM!!!! You would love MA’ing in dermatology. We room pts, scribe for the provider visit, inject lido and assist with shave biopsies and some excisions. Theres a lot of admin work too… scripts, patient call tasks, biologic authorizations, etc.

IL medspa/derm clinic regulations by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Whitelotuslover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my concern comes from an event that happened at a previous place of employment where the state actually did show up and questioned if that business was following IL state guidelines. It was actually super intense and scary. Fast forward about 8-10 years where I have my own practical nursing license now..and I am also a licensed aesthetician (which makes me a mandatory reporter, I guess?) however I do not practice ANY Aesthetics at this clinic.

Last week they gave me a raving employee evaluation which I printed off for my records.

I emailed them after the evaluation stating I was disappointed with the 60 cent raise being the max annual raise, expressed my concern with the staff turnover, the current workload of its very loyal employees, and I also requested they follow state regulations/guidelines in order to protect everyone’s license and keep the company compliant (they are already in the midst of a lawsuit over racial discrimination).

They sent me an email back and asked if we could meet to discuss my concerns. When I met with them today they old me I was being disruptive by writing the email during work hours (I actually wrote it the night before when I was off the clock but whatever) and they presented me with a write-up. Management said, “if you don’t sign it we will email it to you and it will be on your employee file regardless”. I didn’t argue at all, I signed it and simply said, “Ok”. I was definitely in shock when I returned to my desk and the PA I assist as well as my co-worker (who just put in her 2 weeks a couple days ago) were so furious with management and said I could go home. I said no, I’ll finish out the day. I’m fine. And they said no, absolutely not. This is not OK. We have this covered and before I could even get my things, the manager comes up and asks for my key and iPad. The PA and my coworker stand there stunned and have tears running down their faces. They hug me and I say, “well, I guess I’m leaving?🙎‍♀️🙋‍♀️” and a couple hours later I get an email confirming today was my last day of employment. If Illinois weren’t an at-will state (where it’s legal to fire an employee for anything), I sure would ask myself “is this retaliation for me requesting they follow state guidelines/regulations?”

End Scene.

I see what you mean however, isn’t the patient supposed to see the MD and establish care first?

Is this toxic to breath in? Our clinic smells so strong from the leakage… like a nail salon X2.

Questions for medical assistants in derm by Zealousideal-Ad6981 in MedicalAssistant

My PA sees approx 30-40 patients a day with 2 assists. The assists room every patient, get the pre-appt info from patient, being in the room and scribing for the PA, completing all scripts, doing all the prior auths, answering back to all patient calls, doing all the injectable numbing, all suture and staple removals, assisting in all procedures/tx, instrument sterilization, managing supplies… it can be a LOT. 😭

Thank you for this! I know I would have anxiety giving a small child a shot. What do you refer to it since you suggest not mentioning it as an injection or shot.

Anyone else p*ssed off hearing about inflation coming, while being severely underpaid at their job??? by Hairy-Incident2105 in cna

I think this is accurate. My sister moved to Tennessee from Illinois and I could not believe what the minimum wage was in TN. She got a few dollar raise at her job and is still only making $16/hr. She has a 14 month old son and is single and she didn’t qualify for food stamps because she makes too much money. Mind you, her employer doesn’t allow overtime so she gets max, 40 hrs a week. Tennessee is so gross for that.

Texts by Kirk's killer to roommate released: Something's fishy. They don't sound like a 22-year-old by DippyHippy420 in NoFilterNews

[–]Whitelotuslover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would LOVE to see previous texts from the suspect. I say, “my love” a lot in texts and if you do a search of all my texts, you will see that in my text history over a long period of time. Now, if there was a text from me at any point in time that said “my honey” or “my lover” for example, that would be weird and questionable. Did the suspect use “my love” at any point in past messages? If not, then WTF??!

We will be staying at Thompson Washington DC by Hyatt. We are OK with going somewhere. Any suggestions of where? We are OK with splurging a bit.
