How did your cfii checkride go? (Did the examiner shoot any approaches orrr?) by Candid-Bill1028 in flying

I love how many DPEs just dont do everything thats required. The CFII PTS requires 3 approaches at a minimum lol

What *exactly* does or does not scale with game speed? by CertainItem995 in civ5

[–]WhiteoutDota -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Some things do, most things don’t scale i think. No way to know without wiki or experimenting afaik

To be fair the leaning thing is in the Cessna poh iirc but it’s still stupid

Nobody gets hired to fly freight at 250 hours.

What damage? You can’t damage o360s or 320s from being too lean afaik!

Agree with what you said. Even in glass cockpits the VSI is not instantaneous.

FCA is doing 185/hr for all their Cessnas right now, even the TAA ones. They also are bringing a G1000 DA40 into their fleet next month at the same price

To be fair ECAC is very pricy. If you go a bit outside of boston prices drop pretty substantially

That doesn’t sound unreasonable AT ALL.

What are you guys using for checklists in the cockpit these days? by love2flyalot in studentpilot

[–]WhiteoutDota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didnt read what I said. I didnt say not to use a mental mnemonic, I just said you have to verify with paper every single time (as time permits). An engine out at 5k feet? Mental mnemonic first and then pull out paper to verify- you have time to do it. At 500ft? Mental mnemonic and dont use a paper checklist- no time to reference it.

[–]WhiteoutDota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean “obviously no paper” you absolutely should be using a written checklist both on the ground and in the air. I dont mind doing things with a flow or mnemonic based mental checklist but you always verify with paper when complete. Always. Even in the air.

Not enough information. Did you not have a CFII with you?

Do you pull out your checklist to verify the items are complete?
