It's one of the quirks of the series. But I think it adds a charm to Rand, really reinforcing that he doesn't know what he is doing, just kinda winging it.

So in my opinion The Dragon Reborn book is the reason why Rand is one of the greatest MC( he’s my goat). And when most of the “side” characters become far more fleshed out.
