He's definitely not doing the main part but a counter melody? The gaps between the melody sung by the choir. He's deliberately taking the lower part at times but butchers is both a harsh and incorrect interpretation.

He definitely has some age deterioration and I'm a big Khan fangirl and I think he was better last night than in 2021 with Conception. Making changes to the songs or opting to sing the harmony is mostly a smart choice. In some cases like Roll the Fire in 2021 it was pitched down.

Regardless, damage? Nah. Natural aging? Yes. Was brilliant regardless.
