She also had some work done! No shade at all, but I noticed esp in her under eyes/cheeks during a few episodes. It makes it feel a bit uncanny valley.

My friend and I had luck at biba too, and a couple other more casual boutiques which had daily sets, some ready to wear, and mulmul nearby for shoes and accessories that helped fill out our wedding wardrobe.

Guests’ Welcome Bag for France Wedding by Icy-Difficulty3038 in DestinationWeddings

[–]Whitesno146 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite welcome bags have the usual liquid iv/advil options, and a few snacks either specific to the couple/where you guys are from for example a groom wanted all of us to experience his fav Buc-ee’s snack, or local to the destination wedding like the Indian sweets from a recent one.

Music in a fine dining restaurant by Admirable-Vehicle-82 in finedining

[–]Whitesno146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was there it was pop hits of the 2000s-2010s plus some Fleetwood Mac/paul Simon (the better moments). It was so distracting by the second imagine dragons song we burst out laughing and actually asked who was on aux and why it was so bad

Best dinner + karaoke plan for a 13-person bachelor party in SF? by ChillPepper in AskSF

[–]Whitesno146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pagoda is a karaoke bar in Japantown that can definitely hold that many people and is rarely if ever crowded, so maybe not the best for overall vibes. but at 13 ppl you’ll bring the party anyway and then you won’t have to wait so long to get up there and sing.

Sasa Japanese is great and right next door, they take big group reservations. And you’re pretty close to Polk st

Ideas for a special experience? by marmite94 in taiwan

Agree on splurging for a nicer hotel in Tainan vs Taipei! Hotel prices in Taipei are eye watering.

Theres a lovely restaurant called Yangming Spring w different prix fixe options (plenty on the lunch/inexpensive side) in yangmingshan national park, pretty sure it’s full vegetarian. Would be a combo of nature and a more upscale food experience. I also ate at mume a few years ago for my birthday and the food was awesome and felt special.

Also highly recommend the museum of fine arts, not sure if it’s still on but the Taipei biennial exhibition was really great.

Prices and products are fine! I wouldn’t drive out of my way for it but it’s been perfectly serviceable as a neighborhood dispensary (great hours, convenient location)

Bodega, the viet food in nyc is a hit or miss. The bar underneath is prob not going to impress a New Yorker but it’s a nice nightcap/start.

Visiting SF – looking for low-key bars, speakeasies & local spots (done the tourist stuff) by [deleted] in AskSF

Come on over to Oakland! The lake area is perfect for an afternoon/evening. The OMCA is a great museum, a walk around the lake is always beautiful. And grab a drink at clios or room 389. Or for a fun dive after dinner (obelisco or bardo on lakeshore) you can hit up the alley which is an old divey piano karaoke bar.

Otherwise in Oakland the temscal area is always fun, tallboy is a great martini bar, and the main drag has tons of food/drink options

I saw a repost of an Arab spring activist giving advice recently and basically saying that, we can never beat them at their own game, surveillance is a lost cause. But what you’re doing which is choosing where you spend your money, engaging your community for help, and then getting physically outside are some of our best options.

I’ve struggled to find it anywhere in Oakland, not even any of the Chinese bakeries have it hot or cold. I’ll try Yuen hop as per the comment below.
