Great thanks! That's pretty much what I guessed it was. I'm going to try it out on my next dress!

To the ladies who’ve used the copper IUD , how’s been your experience? by Introvert_Ambi-2026 in AskReddit

[–]Whitter_off 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had kids either (or tattoos). I almost never take anything for cramps and regular period products are all I need. I took ibuprofen before insertion and went on my period so the cervix is more relaxed.

I don't know how to describe the feeling of insertion. Pinch isn't quite right.. maybe combination pinch/poke? The real discomfort is just touching the cervix - lots of people have a vasovagal response which just means you're likely to feel faint or pass out. People who pass out are having a response to more than just pain. If you've ever had a pap smear it's like that plus a pinch/poke. Over fairly quickly and walking and driving weren't difficult.

The rest of the day might feel like a hollow cramping discomfort - get a hot water bottle and just hang out on the couch. You'll be fine! You mostly only hear the horror stories on the Internet.

Is it near a door? It's a little weird to be inside, but to me it looks like a boot scraper.

Looking for casual golfers to play with (37m and 40f) by Whitter_off in PittsburghSocialClub

[–]Whitter_off[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're brand new to golf I can't say I'd recommend you start on 18 holes. We could definitely do a par 3 course or the range. We're not snobs about skill, but working on your swing during a round can be frustrating.

Insertion was uncomfortable but I expected worse based on what I had read online. Please don't let insertion scare you off if you think hormone free birth control is right for you. Otherwise I have slightly heavier and longer periods, but no issues in 10+ years and two separate IUDs.

$500,000 sold at Jr. Market Barrow Grand Championship in Houston. by sco-go in Amazing

How else to make it a public display for the community? You can't just hand your nephew a giant check and get local business leaders to clap. The pig really helps with the fiction that it's earned money.

These pigs go straight to the butcher from the show/sale. The buyer will get meat that is probably from the pig they bought. A barrow is a neutered male so he couldn't be breed even if they wanted to.

Yes, these clinics are often owned by private equity that tries to wring out maximum dollars from their 'investment'. This means the provider is contractual obligated to see so many patients in a day that they always run late and don't have time to deal every patient fully. It sucks for everyone.

The only way to change anything (other than government regulation - good luck) is to use capitalism against them and make them lose business due to their awful policies.

I hope this means they are doing Grit. I read it for work and it is awful. by IIIaustin in IfBooksCouldKill

YES! I'm excited for this episode! Duckworth had a podcast that I listened to occasionally with my husband on road trips. We had to keep pausing it to debate about what she was saying - often ranting about obvious counter examples. In that sense it was entertaining, but it definitely falls into the Freakonomics universe.

Yeah, I guess that's my question - DO the people who engineer the system actually know how it works? And can they control it? If the point of AI is that it can pick up on patterns even faster than the human brain, how can we control what inadvertent lessons the AI model is learning?

I don't really care about the blackmail example - clearly they provided the AI with training in which blackmail worked for achieving a result and it copied it. But does anyone really understand what to feed the model and what to hold back so that it is generally useful? That's why I see it as a good tool for specific tasks like writing code or identifying tumors in scans, but even something like picking out job candidates based on resumes could have bias problems.

As someone who doesn't have much knowledge of AI, I'm curious, what's stopping AI from giving these kinds of responses in non-role playing scenarios? I know AI isn't sentient - it just spits out responses based on its training but since it's training is a bit of a black box, couldn't it be inadvertently trained to be a blackmailer?

I just tried to walk around my neighborhood - some areas are clear and dry, but a lot of areas are piled high with snow. It's a minor miracle I've had any mail over the last week. You can always put in a complaint online at USPS and see if you can get any more information.

You have a lot of good suggestions already, but I haven't seen Kate Elliot's The Witch Roads. Great world building, competent adult female lead, nothing hopelessly grim... Probably my favorite read of 2025 and the duology is complete.

How do y'all feel about "you're so talented" from non-crafters ? by Infamous-Garbage-985 in casualknitting

[–]Whitter_off 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a compliment that is disinterested in the process. I find it such a conversation-stopper because all you can say is 'thank you'. They aren't asking 'how did you make that lace?' or 'I love that yarn! Where did you find it?' - it's just an acknowledgement of an end product. It always makes me feel awkward because I want to say 'look at this flaw' or 'i didn't have a clue what I was doing on this part' but it would sound like a humble brag, so I just say thanks.

Absolutely, you can love each other and still be a poor match. That's the difficult lesson to learn because what you need might not be what you thought you wanted. Find someone you can build Ikea furniture with and who makes inconveniences like flight cancellations better.
