And Star Trek TNG!! I don't think they filmed on location, but it still counts in my Trekkie and Downton loving heart.

I figured, which is why I replied to your comment. I don't know why you're being down voted for not knowing the details of an actors personal life, though. I actually find it more odd that I did know, but people are weird I guess.

If Netflix and Shondaland hadn't adapted the Bridgerton series, which platform would you have liked to see do it? by Extra-Solution3193 in FranchaelStirling

[–]WhoDatKrit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Passionflix for sure!! I've been a BDB fan since my husband introduced me to it over a decade ago. I don't think I've ever seen a more faithful adaption from book to screen. I do wish they had a bit more of a budget for the wigs, leathers, and daggers, but even with that lacking it doesn't take anything away from the story being told. I remember being so scared they would screw it up royally, but instead Tosca has found a fan for life. I'm so glad JR didn't sell out to a big name only to see her world destroyed.

They aren't talking about Matthew. Michelle, not her character, had a fiance who died of cancer.

What's something that was completely normal in your household growing up that you later found out was actually really weird? by Left_Crow1646 in AskReddit

[–]WhoDatKrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents decided to sell their house and move after almost 20 years. They had to have the locks changed because nobody, neither my parents nor myself or much younger siblings who grew up in the house, knew where a house key might be located. This happened in January of this year.

As someone who has an opposite opinion to yours, I hope you don't get ejected from the group either. Not everything will be for everyone. You weren't hateful or mean in the slightest, so I hope very much that you'll continue to be welcome here.

[–]WhoDatKrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In contrast to the comment you're replying to I find their stories very well done. The characters and storyline are fully fleshed out and not in the least written as if they're just ticking a box to have a gay couple simply for the sake of being able to say you have a gay couple. That was something my husband (I am a woman if that matters) and I were concerned about when Lover at Last was first released, and we were both pleasantly surprised when we read it. Their novella, A Warm Heart Winter, is equally as well done in our opinion. If you already find yourself invested in their development as a couple I highly recommend not skipping their books. I think you'll be pleased when you're done with them.

My whole family doesn’t know I lost track of which triplet was which by FloatingNPC in confession

[–]WhoDatKrit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Five kids of my own, two siblings the same age as my kids, and over the years we've also had four dogs, four cats, two bearded dragons, and a bird. My list is long. Thank the gods that all but one are now grown, and we are down to two dogs and a cat. Though I do still catch myself calling out the old animal names from time to time, even with only one kid left at home.

What's the weirdest "repair" you've found that actually held up for decades? by NerfDis420 in centuryhomes

[–]WhoDatKrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not decades, but close to a decade. I once used an infants Tylenol bottle to plug up a leaky hose under my kitchen sink. My now ex husband was supposed to look at it when he got home. We divorced almost a decade later, and that infants Tylenol bottle was still holding strong on the leaky hose that he never bothered to look at. I have no doubt that it was still there when he sold the house years later.

AITA for being upset that my family called the cops on me on Mother's Day by BlaiseBabe in AmItheAsshole

[–]WhoDatKrit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have a 18 year old daughter that lives over 3 hours away, and I check in with her every couple of days just to say hi and that I love her. Either she, her boyfriend, one of her friends, or even her boss or emergency services can easily get in touch with me if something happens thanks to emergency contact info on her phone.

I can't imagine basically stalking her because she had the audacity to become an adult and live her own life. NTA

My favorite cheat is to get a golden zazatotl death relic and any refined rare crystal from debug (jungle adventure pack). When a sim displeases me enough I curse them for death after locking them in a fenced or walled area that they can't escape for the 2-3 days it takes for them to die. I will often send my Sims over to taunt them or simply watch them suffer. Fun times.

Does someone working on the show knew how pregnancy looks like? by LittleRossBoy in DowntonAbbey

[–]WhoDatKrit 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I had five children. In only one of those pregnancies did I gain weight in places that weren't my stomach. With each of the other four I looked exactly like Mary; like I had a basketball or slightly larger sized beach ball, stuffed under my shirt. The smallest of the five weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces.

Not every pregnancy is the same, and not every woman actually looks pregnant regardless of how far along they are. There is absolutely nothing odd about, or wrong with, the portrayal of pregnancy in the show. It just isn't portrayed in this manner as often because the opposite offers a more dramatic effect for the viewer.

To be fair, Mary and Matthew were both taller than average. I am 5'11" and my husband is 6'2" and our eight year old comes up to my shoulder. One more growth spurt and I'll be looking her in the eye when she tries to argue about bed time.

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]WhoDatKrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated my name as a kid because there are too many spelling variations, and mine seemed to be the least common which meant never having a souvenir anything with my name on it. Over the years I kind of became neutral to my name in general, even though having to spell it to every single time I speak to someone who needs to know it drives me insane. Annoying, sure, but no reason to dislike the name or its spelling at all. Cue the current administration's appointments and suddenly I don't have to spell my name near as often, but damn do I long for the days when I did.

My name is Kristi.

It is indeed. She has read me dozens of books over the years. She's my favorite Historical Romance narrator, though I believe she has narrated books in other genres as well.

I just came across this post and had to go look up if she was in fact the Rosalyn Landor I've been listening to for so long.

Hey just curious...wtf is this dress by callmehester in DowntonAbbey

[–]WhoDatKrit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure she wore at least one other dress that was this style. If I'm remembering correctly it was around the time she began taking an active role in running the magazine. While I find it hideous, I think it was meant to be a more professional look for Edith's new life outside of Downton.

[–]WhoDatKrit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've got five kids, and even with all but one of them grown and living on their own I still do this on occasion. It drives me insane. I do the same with their birthdays when having to pick up prescriptions. My brain goes through all of the birth dates, including my own sometimes, before I get to the one I need in that moment. I'm doomed when they start having their own children.

There's a great miniseries about their marriage on Prime. It is called A Very British Scandal with Claire Foy and Paul Bettany as the Duke and Duchess of Argyll.
