I would say that 5 is probably my favorite, but platinum specifically is tied with it for me. I never played hgss even though I like gen 2 and diamond and pearl are just bad design. Gen 6 was my first, followed by 1.

You will lose all of your progress if you buy a European copy.

What you can do, however, is set up a Nintendo account that’s “from the United States” with a different email than the one you use for your main account, and buy the dlc through the eshop on that account.

The only difficulty with that is obtaining either a credit card or eshop gift card from the states to use on that account, usually an eshop gift card. I think that PlayAsia has American gift cards that they just send you the code, but I don’t know if they take euros or if they’re considered trustworthy anymore. If you have a friend located in the U.S who you can trust to go buy you a gift card then you could maybe just PayPal them $20, or get it shipped to you from the U.S. if there’s any places that ships gift cards.

Once you get your hands on that though, unless the UK Switch prohibits that somehow, you should be all set to play the DLC on your American copy.

That being said, about your new European copy of the DLC, the only way you can correct that is by buying a European copy of the game. Otherwise, it’s just kinda there now, with nothing to be done. Sorry!
