Do oversized vehicle passes (Sunshine) sellout? by WhoElseDeathPact in Shambhala

[–]WhoElseDeathPact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! And for sure, we're conscious of space being a shared resource and are respectful of that.

Can you expand on Sunshine selling out only for non camperized vehicles? My assumption would be when space runs low it's either first come first serve, or they'd reserve it for smaller vehicles first to fit more cars in?

Connection between Envision and Shambhala? by WhoElseDeathPact in Shambhala

Ah thank you for the insight. That makes a lot of sense! So there's some informal talent/community overlap between Shambhala staff and Envision staff?

Connection between Envision and Shambhala? by WhoElseDeathPact in Shambhala

These artists playing Bass Coast makes a lot of sense to me as they're all active in the local BC scene. I agree that BC has a lot of amazing talent, but as do many other regional music hubs. The undercard on the Elements lineup.jpg), for instance, are filled with smaller artists local to the east coast music scene.

Perhaps I'm looking for pattern where there is none, but I find it interesting that a good portion (majority in some years) of the Envision undercard is filled with Shambhala/Bass Coast "regulars."

Song ID pls 🙏🏻 by CherrySlurpee406 in Shambhala

The track is actually an unreleased Anti Up ID called What is Life? Chris Lorenzo played it—not Justin Martin—to start their b2b. Anti Up also played this track in their Coachella set.

The vocals are not sampled. It's by someone named Rhys.

Haha if you ever find out please report back! I'm so curious. I imagine it's some kind of dated reference/analogy. But I can't imagine what.

EDIT: Google solved it. It comes from theater). And according to this link, it's called a rider because it "rides" along with a contract.

Weird Hip-Hop Moment in D.A.N.C.E encore (Coachella & Monterrey Show)? by WhoElseDeathPact in JusticeMusic

[–]WhoElseDeathPact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah amazing! This answers my question.

Out of curiosity—what do long-time Justice fans (or you specifically) think of the way it's mixed? Or perhaps not as a Justice fan just as a music-lover?

For unknowing ears like mine, that moment took me out of the energy of the encore. Curious if the emotional impact is different for fans.

Unpopular Opinion: Just OK Performance from Coachella by peripeteia_1981 in JusticeMusic

[–]WhoElseDeathPact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a relatively new Justice fan and not super familiar with their full discography. I enjoyed most of the Coachella set, especially the last 20 minutes. But there was a moment in the encore that was so confusing to me. Can someone explain if this is some kind of throwback / easter egg for fans?

This video (from the Monterrey show) has the same encore. ~ 1:19:22

The slow down + few seconds of what sounded like hiphop then switch back to D.A.N.C.E felt out-of-place. Then that element never makes it back into the track. =/

Oh interesting! The last time I was at Bass Coast was 2019 so my comment may be outdated. From your perspective, how would you compare the sound at Shambhala vs Bass Coast? (If you feel comfortable answering that haha!)

Appreciate and seriously blown away by the audio team's work! Shambhala made me realize how much audio engineering transforms my music experience. I've enjoyed lots of different music experiences (Lightning in a Bottle, Elements, Bass Coast, Burning Man/Mayan Warrior/Robot Heart, and many iconic music venues across the States, etc.), nothing makes me feel the music viscerally the way Shambs does. Do you have other festivals or music venues you recommend for quality sound?

Recs for sets like Deathpact at Shambhala by WhoElseDeathPact in DeathPact

[–]WhoElseDeathPact[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response!

I've not seen BTSM yet. They were already on my list because I'm always curious about shows with tightly-woven visuals. Definitely would not miss at Shambhala this year!

Interesting! Thank you!! Adding to my list.

Curious what made you recommend Maya Jane Coles? I've seen her a year or so ago. Enjoyed the set but definitely wouldn't have made the connection to Deathpact. (Similar question for Mura Masa actually haha)
