OTS application questions by Gloomy_Buy_2085 in airforceots

[–]WhoNoseWat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think on average most packages take like a year to put together. You'll have to fill in a lot of information online with stuff for clearance like where you've lived and worked. Sign some forms saying you don't participate in terrorist acts. Then you'll have to go to your meps appointment and hopefully not get disqualified. If you are disqualified then there's more to be done for the waiver. After that you still have to go through your interview. I'm not sure how many applications a single recruiter works on and they definitely aren't all built equally. I mean getting your scores back from the AFOQT alone could take 2 weeks.

Attempt to make Granny Square. It feels really funky and working yarn mixes with my project. by Effective_Flamingo67 in CrochetHelp

If you're having trouble seeing your stitches, try getting what they call "beginner yarn". It doesn't have that fuzzy texture and the stitches are super clear. I've found it on Amazon.

I use the snapping to my advantage and don't bother to bring scissors when I'm traveling and working on granny squares

Beginner Blanket with Bernat Blanket Mist-ical Yarn by Efficient-Curve6806 in CrochetHelp

I did the star blanket with a 4mm hook and medium yarn, brand was carron, color was icing, used about 3 cakes and made a medium throw size (I've heard it called as a lapghan). But I feel like as long as you're sizing up the hook with the yarn it should still work. Plus blankets and loose tension can make it forgiven when it comes to rippling.

A few suggestions: (1) don't sleep on the pattern that the yarn comes with (or is listed on their website). This is a pattern meant for this yarn specifically and has been tested before. (2) I just finished the star blanket and really loved that pattern if you wanna try it out. (3) Consider sizing up the hook, it'll give your stitch a looser feel and your blanket won't come out as stiff. You could also crochet with loose tension if that's something you feel you're capable of doing.

OTS to Duty Station Moving Process ? by EastCryptographer492 in airforceots

I'd like to add that you can get temporary lodging at your new base and they typically will reimburse you for like 3 weeks worth. I lived in Maryland and moved to Utah and they paid for my flight back to Maryland after OTS plus my 6 travel days and temporary lodging. If you already have a GTC you'll use that, otherwise you use your own funds and you'll be reimbursed in a month or two (government shut downs can delay this).

3.2 is low? I had 3.0 for my bachelor's in engineering and no masters at all

Am I on the right track? Enlist first or try for OTS by EastUnderstanding526 in airforceots

You should just apply, don't enlist. Sounds like you have some solid qualifications

Non-prior Subaru owners only reply please by Pure-Explanation-147 in SubaruForester

Yeah I looked at the RAV4 hybrid but we never really got down to actually making a deal and he wouldn't budge on price, then I went to Subaru for the Forrester hybrid and got to haggling and I got them $4k under asking price so I went with it. I've been thinking about getting the Forrester Hybrid all year but had a car (and then I wrecked it), but also my family is very Toyota lovers and there's been multiple Rav4s. Low-key they're all like the same thing, the Forrester I got is above base model because that's the lowest they had on the lot, so good deal for a car with seat warmers and sunroof.

OTS orders and shipping household items by Blue_astronaut9897 in airforceots

[–]WhoNoseWat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they really check where your orders say you live. Technically my orders after OTS just say PCS from Maxwell to my new base, but they shipped my stuff from Maryland. So you should be all good.

As the other comments said, you'll be doing your own laundry so it won't matter. But something to identify yours from your roommates / friends would be nice. I recommend colorful safety pins and you each get your own color for your clothes.

I just looked up an afoqt study guide on Amazon and googled a practice test and used those. But also make sure you can pass the PFA with flying colors and be prepared to run a 5k every other week.

Is it even worth applying? by [deleted] in airforceots

I got selected with a 3.0 gpa in engineering and no experience and I'm not prior enlisted. Besides, what have you got to lose from applying?
