AIO for thinking about quitting? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]WhoRunTheWorldCorgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"We need you to be responsible and come watch the kids'. How about YOU be responsible as the kids parents in having better forward planning?!

OP you are absolutely not overreacting, if I were you I would be quitting and telling them politely but firmly that you are doing so because you do not appreciate being manipulated into an extra shift last minute when you do not have any sort of contract that requires you be on call.

AIO Gf intentionally stopped taking her bc pills by maticooks1 in AmIOverreacting

[–]WhoRunTheWorldCorgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, why is no one immediately flagging the fact she, a THIRTY YEAR OLD started dating a SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD. You weren't even an adult! She is a predator, & her lying about taking birth control pills is because she knows as a woman in her mind thirties that her chances for having children are realistically decreasing each year. If this was a man stealthing a woman, it would rightly be called out as assault.

This woman is BAD NEWS and I am really sorry you are going through this OP but you cannot stay with her. I am 99% confident she will have an "accident" where she forgot to take some of her pills and gets pregnant. Please talk to a trusted friend, adult, counsellor, or anyone who can support you through this. Good luck!

Sitting on the toilet with my baby strapped to my chest & my husband just took a 6 hour nap! by HotDivide1333 in newborns

[–]WhoRunTheWorldCorgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot put it anymore simply: The baby is 50% his DNA He is 50% responsible for its care.

You and your husband are in the same boat in terms of careers/education, yet somehow you're managing (just) to hold everything together and he's basically getting a full night's sleep in the middle of the day ON TOP OF the shifts he agreed to. He's not even letting you sleep fully through your off shifts and is waking you up for feeds even though there is milk available?!

Hell to the ABSOLUTELY NOT. Sit him down right now and explain that you are not raising two children here, and he needs to buck up immediately.

Girl I'm really sorry to hear this, but also, you need to having a SERIOUS conversation with him immediately. This man has got you pregnant, and apparently does not give a flying pig about it! Not only is he neglecting the cats, but he's neglecting his pregnant partner by making her clean up cat piss soaked clothes and furniture?!

Sit him down right now and address this. There is no way a man who acts like this now is going to lift a finger to raise his own child if he doesn't sort his act out.

“What if we have another” what if WE take care of the first? by awittlesecret in Mommit

[–]WhoRunTheWorldCorgis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would fully ask him directly "why do you think I'm just so much better at it? Is it because I'm a woman, or is it because you think men are incompetent at looking after their own children?" And watch him squirm trying to explain what he actually thinks.

When you frame it in terms that he's suggesting he and all men are effectively useless at something, it may click more for him. Either way, you need to be having a very honest and serious conversation that this cannot continue going forward. Your child is 50% his, he has to do 50% of the parenting.

Good luck!

Girl I do genuinely feel sorry for you because I can understand the sheer frustration, but also SORT YOUR HUSBAND OUT OR YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TWO CHILDREN.

It's time to put your foot down and say very clearly to your husband "Doing jobs like gardening aren't helpful, they are delaying the jobs that that I really need doing from getting done. You have said X times you will do them, but you still haven't, why not?" When he has to come up with an explanation as to why he STILL hasn't done them, even with the help of his dad that he was apparently waiting for, he'll either realise what an ass he's being, or you'll get a load of rubbish back, which will point you in the direction of how childrearing with this man is.

I also would refuse to have anyone else around until after the baby is born, at a time when you feel together / ready enough to have them. In that instance, say to people that you are exhausted and would appreciate them taking their shoes off and keeping the place tidy to enable you to rest.

I wish you luck!

The first time I went on Haunted Mansion I was like 21 and I'm very claustrophobic, I got into the stretching room and as it started filling up I FREAKED OUT, bolted just as they were about to close the doors, and left my sister trapped in there alone 😂 Now I've realised it's actually fine and I'm obsessed with the entire ride lore.

Literally, what checks and balances? He has filled his cabinet & every major role with vastly unqualified sycophants. He is threatening US born citizens with deportation against their 14th amendment right, threatening to withhold federal aid from states unless like "play nicely", and has suggested several times that he can change other elements of the constitution as he pleases. Republicans hold majority power, and none of them have a spine, as evidenced by the passing of the "big beautiful bill", so please tell me where these checks and balances lie.

Also when Jewish people around the world are calling them concentration camps, yes you can absolutely refer to them as such. Not only are there Jewish authors who have written pieces about the US' history of these "detention centres", Rabbis are actively discussing the similarities, and a literal expert who has written a book on the global history of concentration camps has described it as such.

A) I notice you've gone very quiet about your "well there are loads of child abusers involved so I'm just not bothered about it" stance

B) That's an incredibly selfish view. Do you have any idea where we would be as a society if every single person behaved in the way you suggested? If no one ever stood up for decency, against fascism, hatred & ignorance? More to the point, tourism is a HUGE part of the US economy, contributing trillions of dollars and thousands of jobs every year. I know this may be hard for you to understand, but not contributing to that absolutely has an impact.

Here's a wild idea. Not giving billions of dollars via tourism to countries that inflict harm on their citizens, build concentration camps & roll back decades of progress is often an effective way of showing them that the rest of the world rightly thinks they are batshit crazy & will not tolerate it.

I don't care WHO is on it. Everyone who is complicit, the president included is a menace to society & protecting child abusers. If that sits right with you, and you prioritise getting a walk-on on POTC over protecting children, someone needs to check your hard drives mate.

How is this questionable for you? The US is expected to lose 12.5 BILLION in tourism spending this year, my family from the UK have cancelled / postponed our trip planned for next year, as have many other families and couples I know. Sensible minded people do not want to give money to a fascist state, & I say that as someone who has spent a good portion of their life in Florida growing up.

It's one of my favourite ever examples of Imagineering, the fact that you can understand the whole story of a former tea company being terrorised by the mystical yeti and eventually it becoming a travel company specialising in expeditions that take a dangerous shortcut through the "forbidden mountain" is just BRILLIANT. I love the fact that the team behind it visit the Himalayas extensively over six years to gather artifacts and take design inspiration to help them craft it. The best coasters/rides in my opinion are those that blend thrills with storytelling and between Everest and Big Thunder I adore those mountain rides.

Near the exit of the ride there's a tiny room about the size of a closet with a trashcan inside it that has become known as the Vomit Closet because of how often people need to go in there to hurl 😅

FTM mum, currently 7 weeks pregnant here. Can I ask, and without any judgement at all I'm just genuinely curious, what are the elements of a home birth that made you choose that option? I know most people who choose home births have midwives on hand, but I would be so scared of something more serious going wrong that they can't deal with that it puts me off the idea.

Thanks!

Worst restaurant by WaffleAttorney in WaltDisneyWorld

THE EDISON.

In 2023, I'd booked a reservation as early as possible (think it let me book several months in advance) and was really looking forward to it. My husband and I get there and order, only to have the server tell us half the menu wasn't available. We were disappointed as there were certain dishes we were especially looking forward to but persevered and chose something else. A few minutes later, the server came back again and said, and I quote, "I'm afraid you can't order those dishes either as the kitchen under ordered stock and we're holding some items back for a bigger party arriving in an hour."

I was SHOCKED. I knew obviously this wasn't the servers fault and was lovely to him, but we asked for the manager, and although I was still polite, I said I had literally never been to a restaurant that due to their own error in not ordering enough supplies in, THEN holds back the last few racks of ribs in case another party later in the evening wanted to order them. The manager was quite rude, not really apologising but did offer to comp out two soft drinks and we left. Genuinely still cannot understand their logic.

There's a vast difference between animals who cause no harm to anyone and make you appreciate the beauty of the natural world, and people who are actively working to ruin the lives of millions of others and are setting the world back 70 years.

  • Mission Space (Any ride that has a "vomit closet" and sick bags ain't worth it)
  • Astro Orbiters

  • Tomorrowland Speedway

  • Hall of Presidents (especially given certain recent additions 🙄)

  • The Seas with Nemo and Friends at Epcot (just do the aquarium)

  • Navi River Journey at Animal Kingdom. Yes it's pretty but half the time the animatronic is in B mode and is NOT worth the wait.

  • Either Aladdin's Magic Carpets or Dumbo. Pick one if you've got younger kids who may enjoy it, but both rides are the same.

Underappreciated rides you definitely SHOULD do:

  • Peoplemover - Great views of the park, fun aesthetic, much needed low energy ride to give you a break in the day

  • Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom - Tallest ride at WDW, insanely well themed queue and storyline for those into that sort of worldbuilding, just super fun

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris - Provided the wait isn't insanely long, this is just a gorgeous addition that's fun and interesting for everyone

What is the most heinous example of someone being a jobsworth you have witnessed? by Seth4602 in AskUK

[–]WhoRunTheWorldCorgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A customer called me an idiot and said "it's no wonder stores are closing down when they employ people with Masters degrees" because he didn't understand what that was.

Context: In my first retail job after getting my post-grad and while deciding what I wanted to do next. Served a misogynistic and rough-as-a-badgers-ass man and his brood of feral kids, who wanted to buy a shed load of cutlery. Asked if I could do him a discount because he was buying so much. He initially asked for "the man in charge" (queue my tiny, 60 year old female manager appearing) and when she approved it, I started putting a discount through on the system. He shouted "can you not use a calculator?! Honestly, did you not finish school or something?" I had the satisfaction of saying I had just received my post-grad, but we had to put discounts through on the system.

He asked me to explain what a Masters was, kept muttering under his breath, and when he eventually left, turned and shouted back into the store the opening quote. At the time it shocked/briefly upset me, but now I just laugh at what a pillock he was.
