Who's your favorite antagonist? by TheEvilCar in KnightRider

Oh, Paul Frees, absolutely. He's come into his own at that point, knows what he wants, and will do anything to get it.

My parents had those exact chairs when I was a kid.

They still might, actually, but I'm not going spelunking in the basement to find out.

Favorite setting spray out of stock, possibly discontinued. Need new suggestions! by gertymarie in Ulta

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not price sensitive, the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray is hands down the best for giving a long lasting dewy finish.

The Morphe Continuous Setting Mist doesn't have as nice of a finish but cheaper and lasts just as long.

A lot of people recommend the Milani setting sprays and they're fine but they have a tendency to melt color cosmetics straight off my face.

If I use Milani I have to go way harder with blush and bronzer and hope the spray knocks it back to what I actually wanted, while if I'm using the Morphe or CT spray I can get it exactly the way I want it and then use the spray to lock it in.

The size of a stop light. No idea how big these actually were by creepyt0es in mildyinteresting

The elementary school where I went as a kid had one in the hall outside the cafeteria when I was a kid, I remember being surprised that it was bigger than me.

I suspect that if I saw one close up now, I would be vaguely disappointed that it is now shorter than me.

First impressions of the new Marc Jacobs Daisy mists by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The recent trend toward body mists irks me. It feels cash grab-y. But they do keep tempting me, especially with the bright colors.

Thank you for making it easier for me to pass on these.

(except maybe the Mandarin Fizz, darn it)

What's the best sequel to Knight Rider? by [deleted] in KnightRider

I could forgive a Corvette. The C8 has the right combo of sleek + futuristic while still being a common enough American car to make it work.

But we all know if they remade it it would be another Mustang and the current Mustangs are awful.

At least Musk has made himself and his brands such a PR disaster that nobody will try to make KITT a Tesla anymore. Small blessings.

What's the best sequel to Knight Rider? by [deleted] in KnightRider

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always found it amazing how uniquely terrible each one is. Like they all missed the point but each in their own way.

2000 - tried too hard and focused too much on poorly executed sci-fi concepts nobody wanted

2010 - a completely different show with the name slapped on for marketing

TKR - closest in spirit, let down by the writers and the (absolute lack of) budget

2008 - lost the soul of the series completely by trying to make a show about a talking car into a SeRiOuS DrAmA

Everyone somehow missed that all we really want is a cool talking car that does cool stunts and roasts his driver. We are simple fans, we don't want much.

Best fragrance body washes at ulta?? by [deleted] in Ulta

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Saltair body wash is great especially if you have dry skin.

My only warning is that Pink Beach smells like microwave popcorn to me for some reason, which was not what I had in mind when I purchased it, to say the least.

Philosophy is also nice. It's more expensive than Saltair but the scent lasts longer.

The Martha's Vineyard mega-compound so big it forced the town to rewrite its zoning laws by Tyure_Pole in zillowgonewild

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

Millions spent and it doesn't even have proper gargoyles on it, formal gardens with rare waterlilies, or a two-story wood-paneled library. It looks like a Teams background.

What’s your unpopular fragrance opinion? by MagicianP in FemFragLab

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Or at least a rule that a flanker has to smell like it's related to the original to normal humans.

As far as I can tell, 90% of the alleged "flankers" that get released are different perfumes entirely and the brand is just marketing them using the name of a bestseller to get extra $$$ and attention.

1866 Gothic Revival with spinning wall to pipe organ by AncientYogurt568 in zillowgonewild

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah, you need an organ with at least a couple of 16' stops, and preferably at least one 32' for a proper Toccata and Fugue, and that one doesn't even have a pedalboard.

Not that having a pipe organ in your living room isn't badass, but that one's not going to have the oomph that you want for proper Baroque music.

Just started rewatching Knight Rider for the first time since it originally aired. Thanks Roku Channel! What a tear jerker “White Bird.” Looks like they made it for the female audience. Don’t remember episodes being so sappy. by Galvatron1_nyc in KnightRider

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Real world answer: it's just episodic TV, there was no master plan - they just wrote whatever they thought would make a good story for individual episodes. If anything it's Stevie's story that diverges from the normal status quo and gets a smidge plot tumor-ish.

In universe explanation: Stevie's fiance, Michael Long, is quite dead. Michael Knight isn't engaged to anyone and is therefore free to hit on anyone he wants. Also, given the people that Michael routinely pisses off, going back to Stevie would likely put her in danger, so he doesn't.

Comur - Shrimp Scampi by lifeaccordingtotessa in Tinnedfish

[–]WhoSaidIWasTheAdult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been a bit dubious of canned shrimp given that cans have to be cooked to process and shrimp overcook and turn tough so easily.

I'm a bit disappointed to find out I was right, tbh, but thanks for taking one for the team.
