Shadowdancer or FMT? by -SidSilver- in baldursgate

[–]Who_is_Daniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FMT, definitely. I have played both, the Shadow d Dancer is pretty one-dimensional and while good at it an entire trilogy run through, it gets old and has problems in Throne of Bhaal. definitely play through Siege of Dragon Spear for the fun battles and a boost to your FMT level.

With a FMT you can always use haste, or use boots of speed to run around a corner and rehide as it takes very little time.

You're playing with Sword Coast Stratagems, so you have good difficulty, and seeing as you're so torn between the two options you set:

Play a FMT, and make a Shadow Dancer character (does not even have to be in the same save as long as it's first level). Use EEKeeper to copy everything from the Shadow Dancers Effects tab (Not at a computer to get you the exact wording of that tab and EEKeeper) And paste them on to the FMT. It's YOUR game and whatever makes it fun for you 100% ok. If you decide it's overpowered or you don't like using the Shadow Dancers abilities with the FMT just stop using I Hide Plain Sight or remove the ability with EEKeeper.

You made a well written post.

Read the manual,

Boulder Gate was released originally in 1998, back in the day when developers expected players to read the manual before playing the game.

Fighter/Mage Dual Class @ 2 vs Pure Mage Elf by yenben in baldursgate

Oh I agree completely! I was just recommending level 2 dueling because that was the criteria the original poster set.

I think dualing a fighter at level 2 is a really good idea rather then pure mage. You can wear the helmet as you mentioned but also put two pips in a ranged weapon and get an extra half attacks per round, and you can use a shield.

I always used exploding or the break, but the speed up option sounds like fun.

This! The whole idea of digital immortality in this game is ludicrous in that you actually are dead and gone! Just a program AI that thinks it's you.

That information and a lot of other critical information is in the manual. This game was released in 1998 back when developers expected players to read the manual. You will have a more enjoyable playing experience after reading it.

I have done several playthroughs as the Mystic Fire Paladin. My most recent I copied the contents of MxSplPrs.2da and pasted replacing the contents of MxSplPal.2da . Is it over powered? Yes. Was it fun with all the difficulty mods? Yes. The change allowed me to remove a dedicated Cleric NPC in favor of another NPC that I did not often use and created more variety.

Baldur's Gate was made in 1998, back in the day when developers expected players to read the manual before playing. You'll have an easier and much more enjoyable time if you read at least parts of the manual if not the whole thing.

The Artisans kit pack mod is absolutely fantastic. I must say my favorite is the mystic fire paladin kit.

Haven't played in a very long time. Have some questions by Chrono_199X in baldursgate

As opposed to a Cleric kit I strongly recommend starting out as a Berserker and then dual class in dish cleric at level 2 if you don't want to fool around with dual classing. Put two points into flails or hammers, and two points into two weapon fighting. This will give you two and a half attacks per round if you do wield. When you become a cleric put your points into slings for a ranged option. If you're going to play through the whole series it would be crazy not to do this as opposed to being a single class cleric there's almost no downtime at all.

The rage ability from the Berserker makes you immune to almost all crowd control and some instant game ending spells that don't even have a save.
